June 26, 20223 yr Author Wiring the converter is quite simple. Using a standard rj45 patch lead one end goes into the inverter and other end is wired to the rs495 converter using the orange and white/orange wires to the A and B connector on the converter side.

Thanks @WannabeSolarSparky; I am assuming you are using the T568B config on the RJ45 going to the inverter (being the white orange orange on pin 1 and 2? On my converter I have a TR+ and TR- which another assumption looking at your picture would correspond with D+/A and D-/B. I tried this on my connector and not getting any data back from what I can see (is there away to check if any data is incoming on that connection like a sniffer or something?) Then last question, Am I suppose to set my inverters multi-inverter setting to Master - modbus Id 00 instead of the default slave it is currently at ? (I have only 1 inverter) Thanks for all the help so far - been trying every configuration known to man and just can't get it working.. Cheers

Yes, that's correct. Have you already tested that you can communicate with the inverter by using the rs232 port direct to your monitoring device? i.e. if you are using Pi then connect the usb to serial direct to the inverter serial port then test everything.
June 27, 20223 yr Ah, I haven't tried that yet - that worked straight from RS232. So either my pinouts are wrong or the converter is broken or the inverter isn't sending that data across that port. I used the Top left RS485 port next to the CAN BMS. Anyway, I'll troubleshoot a bit more later today - thanks for the help, at least I now know what it looks like when there is successful data transfer, and that the rest of the setup works.
