Round trip efficiency of solar system

Featured Replies

I have access to data of 3 victron installations ( 1-2 yr old) and I downloaded the following report from the Victron portal for the month of May.

What surprised me was the figures of the round trip efficiency. Has anybody done similar calculations for different type of inverters ?

Yes, there is quite a lot of copper losses in the Victron low frequency design. If you really want a low frequency inverter, there are quite a few with better efficiency, but it will always be limited. Some of the high frequency designs are very efficient.

And also, the round trip efficiency of our solar system is really good. Each trip around the sun is completely complimentary!

I think you will only know if you can compare the higher frequency system and then it will also depend where you run your at (running a 4/5kW inverter at mostly 150W will give bad efficiency on most systems) and as p1000 oversize you wires keep runs short.
