August 8, 20224 yr I have a Hubble 5.5kw AM2 along with 13 x425w canadian solar panels and a Luxpower sna 5000 eco hybrid inverter. The system is purring nicely and here in Durban we have been exempt from loadsheddding for months now and I on occasion turn off my mains at about 9 pm and let the battery do its thing during the night. In the morning my soc % is about 35 and the sun quickly recharges back up to 100%. Besides saving a bit of electricity at night is there any good reason to do this from time to time in terms of dropping the battery soc down and fully back up. I am a small household so my draw is small. My monthly is about 460kw per month
August 10, 20224 yr Ideally batteries should get cycled and not kept fully charged, the Hubble's in my opinion would be better off, not charged fully anyway, since the NMC chemistry would last longer if the charge level would not exceed 80% mostly, but that's another discussion. We now run off the battery and come morning still have over 20% charge, usually. We have an extension lead to the neighbour (no direct Eksdom connection anymore), which can carry 10A, but mostly we feed him with power, during daylight hours, when there's excess power anyway, but when we have a few cloudy days (rare) in a row, then a few electrons make their way back here...
