The inverter will never be able to protect from a surge, well it has MOVs or TVSs, but no software will protect from a surge. It can protect against over/under voltage events, but not very fast. The software needs to be able to measure the event, but more importantly, the relays need to switch, and they need to magnetize/demagnetize and that takes time - usually more than 1ms in the best case. The wave detection AFAIK only affects UPS operation - whether it takes 10ms, 20ms or (some longer period).

These are first set by the safety code Safety code = 50Hz default, Upper = 269, Lower = 171 Safety code = SA, Upper = 251, Lower = 197.5 But once you have set the safety code, you may override those settings. October 30, 20223 yr Author So just an update. COJ did fix the local transformer and the voltage into my home dropped from the 250 to 258V range down to 230 to 240V. Since then things have been quieter with no additional loss. Hopefully its at an end now. An electrician I had out to do some work indicated after me relating the story that because my home was closest to the transformer in the complex I could expect worse damage than units deeper in the complex for surges in particular. So hopefully all is good now.
