Hi all! People selling inverters nowadays are just doing it to make a quick buck and don't really know enough to help you. 

So I'd like to ask the guys and gals here for some advice.

A PC with 450w psu and 2x27inch monitors. Fibre modem. 50inch Led TV. 24port gigabit switch. Pc with 850w psu.

This is what Id like to run for at least 5 hours. Is the above inverter an auto switchover one? Would it be strong enough to handle all that with still some headroom? Can I connect 2 or 4 panels to supplement charge? Will on-board charger stop charging when panels are charging? Is this brand a good ish brand or to be avoided at all costs?

Any help would be appreciated.

 

You didn't say what size battery, which is the biggest factor determining run time. The inverter you linked to looks like a UPS with a battery built in, but as far as I can tell, it has no battery included.

It's very hard to estimate your runtime without knowing what the average load is. An 850 W PSU could draw 900 W if fully loaded, or 200 W if lightly loaded. If you could put a power meter on it, that would really help.

First of all: What is a psu?

From point of view power 3500W seems to me well enough. But I don't know anything on the brand.

However from point of view energy it's another story. Get the power (W) reading from the data label on every consumer you want to backup, but not the UPS. Add the power together, multiply with the number of hours you want to backup, multiply by 2 for safety. That gives you the number of Wh needed. Divide by the voltage of your battery (24V) to get the battery Ah you need.

Solar panels will only help on daylight and to safe electricity cost from the utility.
