November 2, 20223 yr Just got through loadshedding on this really dark JHB day - heavy cloud cover, we even started turning lights on to see what we could manage. The Kodak was happy as Larry. We do have a 4kw array but honestly thought we'd have to fire up the gennie on a day like this.
November 2, 20223 yr I'm also in Randburg, but clearly not the same part of Randburg as you, because I have no load shedding scheduled for today. My system has also done quite well today. Partly because I still had quite a bit of battery available this morning, but mostly because all that is necessary is for solar to exceed load, even if only by a little bit. So most of the day that situation has has occured, and when the heat pump kicked in at midday and the load went up, the battery filled in. Actually, from some POVs I'd have done better if I did have load shedding. The pool pump is on the non-essential loads, so not-running that would have seen more PV sent to the batteries.
