  1. I have one already. I want to be able to flash it with tasmota. The new board will come with a tuya chip - which is likely unhackable. I might resort to using node red to control the devices via google home. But I'm getting into electronics and would like to flash things with tasmota and have more control over the device and program it to work they way I want it to.
  2. I knew this - I actually just posted the wrong link 🤦‍♀️ It's this Vizia one: https://www.takealot.com/vizia-smart-wifi-geyser-with-energy-consumption-monitoring-geyse/PLID90884974?gclid=Cj0KCQiAmaibBhCAARIsAKUlaKSwTaFmBVsF61tvXzpZ-Ayh6w-X79HNUpc0YDKlcXDS2HBh8lavvKIaAhGCEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
  3. Cool. This will work for the geyser. How do I do the pool? - currently I have a cbi Astute in the db.
  4. I couldn't get a photo but it's this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001045800363.html
  5. @WannabeSolarSparky I'm wondering if you've bought one of these to "try" yet? https://www.geewiz.co.za/smart-home-products/183747-tuya-1p-40a-smart-wifi-circuit-breaker.html Looking for a replacement for my cbi astute so I can control it from node-red.
  6. Before I open up this puppy, I thought I'd go to the hive mind... does anyone know if this has a flashable chip?

  9. Just got through loadshedding on this really dark JHB day - heavy cloud cover, we even started turning lights on to see what we could manage. The Kodak was happy as Larry. We do have a 4kw array but honestly thought we'd have to fire up the gennie on a day like this.

  11. I'm officially in this game now! haha. I have ordered an ESP32 - load cell - amplifier thingy and other bits and bobs and when it arrives I will be making a little scale to sit under the kettle, so I can check if it has enough water before I turn it on! I might be taking you up on this offer!
  12. @Peet Welthagen why are you replacing your axperts? If you don't mind me asking?

  14. How much did this set up cost? The link has it out of stock.
  15. There is nothing like coming home from a holiday or long day out and having the kettle just finish boiling as you walk in the door.
  16. Dude! I have thought of this! At least something to determine if it's not empty and doesn't need filling. But I thought of the tap filling too. https://www.takealot.com/vizia-smart-kettle-1-7l-cordless-360-degree-smart-home/PLID73774382
  17. Sorry to hijack the post a bit... stupid question... if I want to use HA because of the single interface and not because I care about the Chinese knowing my stuff - maybe I should care ??? but that's another discussion. My question is this - in order to use HA do I need to tasmotise everything? Or can I just link them up as is? At the moment I connect everything up to Google Home - but it would be nice to have more control and interaction between the devices. Especially when get my inverter installed. @WannabeSolarSparky I have a Vizia smart kettle best thing ever! We used to control the kettle with a sonoff switch but then we had to remember to switch it on and the sonoff off. So when the kettle died, I just bought a smart one.
  18. So GeyserWise have launched an IoT version of their display that can be paired with the tuya or SmartLife app. It's available in Centurion and I believe their Cape Town branch. I can't find it online yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3Yk7HID7f4
