November 29, 20223 yr Mother in law has been having major power issues and recently (the last 5 days) the area has had 3 8+hr outages - today's one started at 4am and is still out. She works from home moderating papers and marking exams so a proper backup system was needed. Powerguru were running a "black friday" special and we managed to get: 1x Luxpower 5kw inverter 1x Shoto 5.12 kwh battery 7x 455W JA Solar panels Instillation ancillaries Installed for R98k. House is a 3bd 2 bath unit in a complex with a north facing roof. Installation started yesterday 9am and the backup system (inverter + batteries) was up and running by 1pm. She was covered when the power went out at 330pm yesterday and again at 4am today (nice impromptu tests) Today worked to install and complete the panels was done - the roof is very high off the ground and needed some interesting solutions but was all done by 2pm. Panels have charged the battery and heated the geyser (on essentials but managed with a CBI astute) and she is thrilled. Peak PV today was 3.35kWh which is enough to charge the geyser from on normal days.

Also installer had issues getting dongle onto the wifi so i sorted that (while staying out of their way). I think its a decent backup solution for an ouma who stays alone and actually doesnt use a lot of power. Will check but i THINK she is basically offgrid - her battery alone can last for approx 40hours if there is no grid and its totally overcast

My dad is getting an installer to come tomorrow to look so I am keen to get some ideas on how others have installed

Got the client to knock out all his shelves and stuff to make space. 1 x Lux SNA5000 with Hubble AM-2 May I ask some questions please? 1) For some reason, my Lux installs are showing my 100ah batteries as 50ah (Shoto & Hubbles)... is there a setting or something on the Lux that we're missing? Cable maybe? 2) Did you adjust fan speeds for an inside install? Default is 70%... I turned down to 50%... and is pretty decent. 3) Being a solar installation, how have you gone about doing the SSEG? The Lux SNA5000 is an unregistered inverter, in City of Cape Town anyway, so it won't pass the SSEG application? Your feedback / guidance will help a lot.
November 30, 20223 yr If it is not a grid tie inverter it won't be listed and you also don't need to fill out that form, only a lighter weight one for off grid installs. if it is a grid tie then I don't know Edited November 30, 20223 yr by Lee2

Not that i have registered because i have no panels, but my research was very clear that an off grid inverter will never be on that list as those are grid ties, and you do need to register them but as off grid in a much lighter weight process

At the bottom it shows the batteries as 50ah and they are definately 100ah. Any suggestions?

MIL is complaining that hers is as loud as jet! want to see if it can be reduced

It is found under the main heading of MAINTAIN. I think the first fan speed is the general speed of the fan for cooling / standard inverting, whilst the 2nd one is the speed under higher loads / inverting. Hope this helps!

Hope this helps! so i used the generic installer code inf01 - and i dont seem to have access to that menu setting under my customer code

I see solarway suppliers have that kit for 41k
