it is normal. no worry about that.

If your total load is 7kw, and your panels supply 3kw, the battery will only supply 2kw as the limitation is 5kw. The other 2kw will be supplied from Eskom. There is no limitation on the non essential circuit and there is a maximum of approximately 8kw (5kw DC to AC) (3kw from Eskom) limitation on the essential circuit when Eskom is available and 5kw when Eskom isn’t available. The issue with using more than 5kw on the essential is if Eskom goes offline at that instant, the inverter will shutdown due to AC overload fault.

    One year later
So yesterday was day 365 of my initial install. Some stats and thoughts on the last year below:

All in all i should have done this sooner as the benefits have been immense. Our area periodically gets plagued by an unwell substation - system keeps performing. Also managed to drastically reduce the Eskom bill (even on prepaid) and we have been able to continue working (from home) without a hitch... well - almost
If i had to do it again:
I would go for an 8kw unit - more regularly we have been having AC overloads on the 5kw I would go for higher wattage panels - we got the 335s as these were in stock at the time but i should have gone for 455s or higher I would have installed it in the garage and paid extra to run cables from the DB I would have cut all the trees in the line of sight - we lost approx 25% production in the winter months due to tree shading - once we cut those we were cruising

Great small setup. Good price also.
How is the Luxpower compared to your Sunsynk inverter? Is it the LXP version?

That restart SOC is quite high. I know it is the default value but on a 24kWh battery it can be much lower.
  8. Thanks
Correct. If you have a prepaid meter, some of them let you check your instantaneous usage so the CT measurement should match your meter.
I am not sure about flipping it while the system is on but maybe change to "Limit to load" (This basically disables the CT) then flip the CT then change back to "Zero Export"

This site is a scam site. Their offices do not exist.
It is the same address as phase-energy.co.za which is a scam.

What can I say about the SunDeye Inverter is that it was a pleasure to install. It's a high quality product that comes at a premium price. The External Neutral to Earth Bonding relay is a bit of pain but hey it's a necessity. PV & DC combiner routing & cables to follow on Monday. Have a lekker weekend everyone!! 🍺🍺🍺

My RJ45 crimper was not at the site so we hacked the Pin outs via a 1 to 1 cable. Will conclude a final self made cable on Monday.

AFAIK, one only needs to provide an Earth Neutral bond when the Utility falls away. SS do not have such a function, so one must provide it yourself. What it does have is a signal to initiate such a bond, via a separate Earth Neutral Bond device.
Else the neutral will be "floating" at +- 90V AC, and it tingles your if you touch anything metal, e.g. shower tap etc.
Absolutely no PERMANENT Bond. Has been discussed on this forum.

SS uses a relay when in islanding mode and i believe that's the recommended config

I reached out to Felicity Battery manufacturers & they have been very very supportive to pair the Felicity with the Deye & have sent me all the supporting documents. I will post updates as this unfolds probably over the next 2 days. I have been assigned to a Chinese Engineer via Wattsapp & I must say very impressive bunch so far.
