Posted December 20, 20222 yr Hi All, please can you assist with some direction... I am currently running a Ceil 5KVA 48V system with 8 x 105AH Royal batteries. The charge time is now too short to charge the batteries(very small charger in the inverter) and we only get 1-1.5 hrs( previously 2+) I have been reading about a Sunsynk 5 or 8KW parallel type inverter that I can replace the Ceil inverter, but still use my Royal SLA's… with the plan to upgrade the batteries to Lithium later. Will the 8KW SunSynk be a good option… as a plug and play into my existing setup.... with the option to add Li and solar at a later stage? If I would need Lithium now, which are compatible with the Sunsynk? Many thanks
December 20, 20222 yr If you have battery issues already, a bigger inverter will make it worse. I have seen Shoto, BSL and Leoch work with Sunsynk. I would suggest using a battery with a CAN interface.

Also it seems you were constantly using them at under 50% charged causing them to commit suicide. Just did a test on a Silver Calsium that was used fot LS for router and switch board at a auditor. After 2 years on a 12V with a 4A intelligent cheap charger the battery ran my home medium fridge for 6 hours to get to 50% SOC. I was very impressed as the battery is like new and provided about 600Wh from a 100Ah battery. I still rate this battery much higher than the cheaper Royals.
December 20, 20222 yr Hi GregDB, The best choice I ever made - to buy a Sunsynk 8kw. Youhave to start somewhere when you upgrade to the "real" world of solar - and Sunsynk is the way to go. And if I can advice go for the 8kw from the beginning. Ok your batteries at the moment might not be an adequate match. But you're planning to upgrade that as well later. At least the Sunsynk charger will fill them (the Royals) up quickly, if they are not already damaged - but hopefully it will give them a good push I think. Just make sure to add Lithium Ion (actually Iron) batteries latter. All the best with your adventure!

They seems to differ by around 10k from supplier to supplier... surely not all the same model, so Im worried about going with the cheapest option
