With a wealth of knowledge on this group has anyone fixed the issue of a SYNAPSE 3000VA/2400W (V+) 24V Off-GRID Inverter which has the fan runing non stop. This is apparently how it is designed and no fix avialable as per supplier Rubicon. I have seen a mode that can be done on the fan, running it slower and depending on temperature from sensor on the heatsink it will run faster. But I have to order out of SA for it. Input and help would be appreciated as I am trying to assit him in this as I would just send back to supplier and change the module.

When PV is off and running on bypass when grid is on does the fan still run?

The best advice I can give for those that has bought this noisy inverter and is stuck with it is just to order 2 temp speed controllers . Power the controller from the wires powering the fans and mount the temp sensor on the pv and inverter heat sinks inside  . Set the speed control temp from 30 to 50 Celsius . Best move I made as the inverter is mounted in my sitting room and we hardly hear the fans now and the inverter temp never goes over 40 Celsius powering 1 fridge ,2 laptops and 2 stand fans .

I have noticed that when the Charger Source Priority is set to Solar First, then the inverter takes very long to heat up from 31 to 40 degrees to start the fans again, sometimes about 6 hours, as to when set to Utility First the temperature of the inverter takes about 15 minutes to go to 40degrees and the fan starts again.   Problem is that I have only one panel going so is does not help to keep the 24V battery properly charged while on Solar First with not much sunlight.

The noise of the fans do not bother me that much but at that rate will they last the lifetime of the machine?

Hi Gmac

Thanks for your solution with the Synapse inverter with regards to noisy fans.

With the Synapse Inverter, do you think a normal temperature controller could also work? So then wire this up and perhaps set it at 45 degrees.

There nothing wrong with testing  it as that controller is  cheap but looking at the Manuel it's an on/of controller so it does not regulate the fan speed so the fans are still going to be full rpm or off but can help to prevent the fans from running all day .

Hi there sorry I know this thread is 6 months old but just wanted to ask if with this temperature control does the fan always run but slower? I am going to use mine in a motorhome so 90% the time batteries charging via solar so fans not always on. Trying to avoid a setup that has them always on even if slower.

I suppose my question is can you start it at 0 rpm and at a certain temperature let it start the fans?

Thanks James

Hi there it is Stephen mannheim here to Semaj76. I see you made the mod on the  SYNAPSE 3000VA/2400W (V+) 24V Off-GRID Inverter. I see you had a link for the Botshop and Electromann for the fan speed controller. Is this the same item that Aliexpress sells? Ours is this same inverter below.

We also have some lights on in the apartment, a Mac computer, 2 laptops and the fridge. So have you sorted the noisy fan problem with the kit from Botshop or Electrmann? I see they are 12 volt and ours is 24 volt - how do we make that work? - you mentions buying 2 controllers? If we have the same system with the same problem then is this going to work for me?  Also who did the installation for you?

Kind Regards,

Hi Stephen. I hope you are well. I commented on someone else who did that mod. I'm not the guy who actually did the mod. Thanks

Hi there GMAC, it is Stephen Mannheim here again about the noisy

Hi all concerned,

How do I go about regulating the fan controller for this Synapse. Is the AliExpress Controller the only ones that work? The Botshop and Electromann controllers mentioned in this thread will they not work the same? There was that person who had this same Inverter and they manged to actually control the speed of the fan to a point where they could barely hear it. If anyone knows the answer please enlighten me.

Is this the only controller that will work? So I must buy 2. It is rated at 12 volts and if you buy 2 it makes 24 volts? Do I get an electrician to install it or someone who specialises in inverters?

There must be other controller  but have not looked. The fans are 12 v fans so one on each fan as there's 2 fans 1 fan to cool the mppt controller and othere fan to cool the inverter .

You can take it to some that works on electronic or do it your self .

The controller are installed between the fan and the board so when the loads is low the fans don't run . And the heat sensors are placed on the aluminum heat sinks inside the inverter

Hi GMAC,

Could you take a look at the 2 links for controllers in South Africa below and see if it is the right controller I am looking for, otherwise I will just have to wait for the AliExpress controller to arrive - around a month. I have not ordered it yet. But I have ordered; a little while back, a CPU for my iMac from AliExpress and they are quite good. Just the wait.

That controller is an relay controller so don't think it will regulate the fan speed it also on or of fan speed  .

Hi GMAC,

I ordered a part from overseas and I received a different product from the one I ordered. I tried to order the one below and got the one further down the page. The 4 wire controller.

And I received this one>

Screenshot2023-10-04at13_48_46.png.0c67c1bd30d859625ef3083210347588.png

Will this one work. It says above that it cannot control 2-3 wire fans in the writing above.

Can you let me know.

Hi Gmac, do you perhaps have a manual on how to program that controller ? I installed 2 today but need assistance with the programming.

I do have the Manuel but unfortunately I'm not home till next week Sunday but will try get someone to take pic of the Manuel for you

Hi GMAC, I have bought the 2-3 wire fan speed controller from Aliexpress, exactly the same as in your post above.
So there are 3 wires from the controller for the fan and the Synapse fan only has 2 wires.
What do you do with the third wire where does it connect to?

Thanks again,

Hi GMAC,

Please don’t forget about the manual.

Hi Rick24,

So the Synapse 3.0V+ Inverter which we have with the loud fans, has 2 wire fans and the suggested Fan Speed Controller from Aliexpress can handle 3 wires. What do I do with the third wire connection as the fans only have 2 wires.

This one is almost identical and DC has  input SOUT - what does that mean and on the right wires to the fans (3) it says SIN - what does that mean

image.thumb.png.51d41661d32f12ca5c41ab27e6d9334a.png

It looks hard to program. Take a look at this one also 2-3 wire. With an LCD screen. What does DC intake direct S/PG mean and to the fans S/PG?

Thanks Rick.
