Posted January 5, 20232 yr I have a Mercer 2400 va 1400kw trolley inverter/ UPS with 2 x 12 v 105ah Deep Cycle batteries . I want to replace the batteries, any recommendations on replacement batteries. Please
January 6, 20232 yr You could get lithium drop in 12v replacements but they're expensive Or expand and get 4x lead acid deep cycle and don't run them down below 50%
January 6, 20232 yr @Desmondit would be useful to know where you are located. That type of battery will have taken a pounding in the last year or so, and will likely do for at least another two. So it may be cheaper in the long run to go for one of the solutions already proposed. Buy the wrong solution now, and you'll be changing those batteries sooner than you expect - and laying out money again.

Please You can use lead acid as well but you have to use a battery protector that will at all times cut the inverter off when getting to about 50% SOC. The Victron battery protector works great but cannot recharge as the unit only allows power in 1 direction. I have developed an add on unit to allow both directions but need a willing person to test it under normal use conditions for the trolley inverters. Ideal would be for someone with a Victron battery protector that my add on can be fitted to in Gauteng Edited January 6, 20232 yr by Scorp007

January 6, 20232 yr I just had a look at the cost of the blunova lithium drop in replacements, they're 12k now, I remember seeing them for around 7/8k last year. Crazy!
