madness_za got a reaction from zsde in Power a Raspberry pi directly from inverterYou can definitely find a DC to DC PSU, SA sell one that works great but I'm quite sure if you hunt around you'll find one at a decent price

Ts&Cs reference South African things like the CPA, but the lack of actual street address and landline contact details makes me very wary
As always, if you can't visit them physically and collect, I would stay away

madness_za got a reaction from Jacques Ester in Alternative to Watchpower, any recommendations?Have you tried with an Android Phone/Tablet?
Paid Option: SolarAssistant:
Buy this: https://solar-assistant.io/shop/products/device_opi3lts
Also buy this cable (NOT the micro USB one): https://solar-assistant.io/shop/products/voltronic_rs232
Setup is easy. Connect PSU cables to your battery terminals. Connect Inverter Cable. Let Pi boot up, go through setup steps outlined here: https://solar-assistant.io/help/getting-started/prepare-device
Note: the Pi tends to play nice with the older 2.4Ghz WiFi, not 5Ghz WiFi. If you have signal problems you will experience frequent disconnects

madness_za got a reaction from Energy-Jason in Cooling Sunsynk 5kWYou can literally zip tie the fans together and lay them directly on the heatsink on top to pull the hot air up.

madness_za got a reaction from Toxxyc in Planning and designing my solar setupRe : battery charging close to full SOC, that's normal and dictated by the BMS. I think you can do 25 amp charging without any issues tbh
-
madness_za got a reaction from chrisc in Alternative to Watchpower, any recommendations? If I remember correctly from setting up Watchpower, first you connect to the inverter with the app, set the correct WiFi credentials so the inverter can connect to the internet, then it will work. It's incredibly buggy and I remember it taking multiple tries and two different phones to get it to work

-
madness_za got a reaction from DarkGhost in Deye Hybrid Inverter takes a few seconds to switch to off-grid when grid goes offDo you know what the load is when this happens?
-
madness_za got a reaction from system32 in Inverter settings in absence of load sheddingWithout panels it’s not even worth cycling the battery at night because it’s gonna cost you to grid charge and you lose due to conversion inefficiency. I would switch over to grid completely and boot up the inverter maybe once a week to charge, then shut down
-
madness_za got a reaction from Coulomb in RCT-AXVMIII-3K inverter question. If you're using voltage settings to manage your battery I can safely assume you do not have BMS communication between battery and inverter. In that case, your inverter is "guessing" the State of Charge based on voltage alone, which doesn't really work for lithium batteries.
