January 23, 20233 yr Hello all, I'm interested in knowing if anyone has experience with the brand "MUST". Specifically, this one for sale at Phase Energy The product seems good and feature rich. I asked them to share with me a data sheet or manual. I attach the document they sent me. The reason why I'm looking at this is because all the Axperts at the same price point is either sold out, or their prices have gone up. Mecers are nowhere to be found in stock, and the RCT branded ones are approaching R10k for the 3KVA models which is nuts! User-Manual-PV18-3-5KW-VHM-off-grid-MPPT (2).pdf
January 23, 20233 yr I'm no expert when it comes to Axpert-type inverters, but I would want something with a warranty that's solidly backed with a local support and repair team. Kodak's range of Axpert-type inverters seem to be the only ones that have this, locally. Maybe Mecer too, I don't know. Other than that, it's 24V, so pretty limited when it comes to lithium battery selection. It supports battery comms, but lacks battery certification, so who will certify it to work with any number of popular lithium batteries? It also has a cheap PWM charger, everyone use MPPT these days, it's far more efficient, and the recommended panel wattage is 230W, so limited availability issues again, unless one is prepared to go second-hand. I guess that there are good reasons why some products are always available and others simply fly off the shelves.
January 23, 20233 yr Author Thanks for the insights. My use-case is backup, with a possible solar expansion later on, funds permitting. For now I'm planning on using AGM batteries, as that is what I have. Future upgrades to lithium will be limited then. The unit has specific charging algorithms for Li batteries which is better than some budget inverters. I totally missed the panel wattage recommendation. I'm not sure I understand that though. Surely all I need to do is to ensure that the VOC of the string of panels are within the limits of the MPPT input then all will be well? There are many panels available with significantly more power output, but a VOC of 30-40V which seems to be still within spec. Perhaps this manual is quite old?
January 24, 20233 yr I have one of those that I used as backup with gel batteries and it works just fine. Been going for over 2 years now. Never looked at upgrade options etc. but as it stands it does the job. I got a separate 5.5kwh hybrid with Lithium batteries in the end of the day.
September 23, 20241 yr I have a must 1ka inverter, that seems to show wrong battery percentages. It can show that the battery is full even when it's not. Anyone with a solution to this problem?
