PSS Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 I have sunsynk 5kw inverter and 2 x greenwich 3.6 batteries with total 4.5kw panels. Geyser and oven on non essential loads, so unable to run during load shedding. Usually not an issue however we've had some extended power failures for a few days due to cable theft. I would like to bypass this setup to at least allow me to run the geyser when I need to, seems pity to have no hot water, panels producing loads of power in full sun, batteries at 100% and can't use any of it to run geyser. Would be an occasional solution when needed as otherwise setup works perfectly in an out of load shedding Current settings are zero export and priority load. I was under the impression if i changed to allow export but to limit to load only this would be the solution but no apparently so when there is non concurrent grid input like in a power failure. WannabeSolarSparky Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 I moved my geyser onto my essential loads and put it on a timer to run at midday. Works out perfectly for our usage patterns. You could also put the geyser onto a manual bypass switch to manually move it to your essentials circuit when needed. solazzz and mzezman 2 Quote

Without a wiring change or additional change over switch dedicated to your geyser, the system cannot power your non-essentials WITHOUT grid present. However, with grid present, you can "export" your solar to non-essential loads. This is poor wording, as its not really "exporting". I am about to start a thread on this, as I have been playing with this over the last few days. Quote
