    My Thoughts:
You have a leaking hot tap in the house, and the geyser is being flushed/refilled with cold water continuously.
(is the water hot enough to use when it says "25" on the Geyserwise?) If the water is hot, then faulty temp sensor, if the water is cold, see point 1.

I use a Greenrich UP5000 battery with solar on the SunSynk 5.5Kva inverter.
Very good battery, no issues at all. Installed in August 2022.
"2C" discharge means that the unit can produce "twice its rated current over time".
The Greenwich is a 5Kwh Battery. At 1C, it could produce 5000w for 1 hour, or 500w for 10 hours, ect..
At 2C, the battery can produce 7500w (maximum rated) for 30min.
Also, keep in mind that your inverter will need to handle 7500w for that to make any realistic impact. Checking the specs of your Growat inverter, it can only handle 7500w for 5s before overload, so no need to worry about the battery.

1 - depends on the manufacturer. I use Dyness and they dont allow blending sizes but Pylontech does
2 - generally not recommended but some adventurous ones have done so. Ideally you want the batteries to have the same / similar voltages (float, charge) and number of cells
3 - Not recommended by manufacturers and is likely to void warranty - unless you are using Pylontech

    Hello everyone!

I am a Masters student at the Nordakademie University in Germany and I am looking for participants for my dissertation survey and ALL of you who are in this forum are exactly the right people! It's about people who are interested in renewable energies. I am interested in anyone who uses the available technologies - or maybe has even had an idea how to improve the set-up or played around a bit with it. As long as you care just a tiny bit about renewable energies, you are perfect for my survey!
If you have already read this far, please take part
    https://forms.office.com/e/9Q0z7r21W8

The survey is of course anonymous and the results will only be used in the context of my master thesis. You only need 5-10 minutes of your time. You get loads of good karma for taking part and the additional good feeling of knowing that you helped out a student.

    Sunny greetings from Hamburg, Germany
    Freya

PS: this post is authorised and I am extremely grateful for being allowed to post my survey here and I hope lots of you will take the chance and take part!

    More investigation on this topic:
When the device is in battery mode - ie, no input at all from PV or utility and running on batteries, the fans switch off during low loads. (my tests were under 15%) Keeping the load constant, I found that the internal temperature of the unit did not surpass 42deg C. The fans did not come on at all.
I dropped the load to minimum - 0% - 1Ah - and found the internal temperature drops further to 37deg c where is sits happily. I left the unit like this for about 24 hours, and the fan did not come on at all.
So far, the fans are only constant during the charge and float of the batteries, and internal temperature above 40deg C.. (both PV and utility)

Hi guys, can you send a pic of where the installation was done & how close is it to any other walls etc. There needs to be a least half a metre between the inverter & anything like a wall or other barrier next to it.
On the battery Comms issue. I'm sorry to say that many installers just believe it's like a PC usb port. You just plug in the said RJ45 & heat all is good. I can tell you how many guys installations I have found that have a cable plugged in & the cable is transmitting absolutely nothing.
Battery Comms is a whole subject on its own but it involves having the correct pin outs on the battery side & matching that on the inverter side & choosing which type of communication will be used between RS485 & CANbus Comms & then even 2 more steps further making the correct communication inverter setting choice & the last step verification of the successful Comms.
Now most installers want to plug & play but a lot are just ignorant & it's really not something done on purpose but if you in this game then I'm sorry these are basics that you need to have. Going to any site involves having a plan & a pin out diagram & a suitable RJ45 Crimper & proper Cat 5 shielded cable.
I do not buy any data cables at all. Because they can cost Crazy money. I have found investing in a proper RJ45 crimper & having a plan can save hours of frustration.
If you anywhere near JNB maybe I can assist, but this is just poor on the installers side.

I have a 5Kw SunSynk (same same) and mine runs the same temps. However, I do not have fans. Mine is installed in a pantry, with dishwasher and washing machine, so a fair bit of ambient heat. And I have solar installed.
However, your BMS is much more of a concern, as your UPS needs to know what the battery is doing. So I would fix that way before the heat!

JamesF got a reaction from BdJ in Jumped on the Sunsynk + Hubble wagon, Am I doing it right?
I use a SunSynk 5Kw with a Greenrich battery, and it floats between 99% and 100% (grid or solar.) It must be something to do with the BMS floating - not over charging. It only happens at 99-100%
Check my batter below - I set different SOC minimums for time of day (to reduce my reliance on grid as much as possible.) When set to 80% SOC, its perfect. When set to 100% - its hovers between 99% and 100%.

Just my 2c. You could limit the battery charge rate from grid to 50A. Should charge in about 2 hrs which should be enough time between loadshedding stints.
But I don't think it makes sense to try limiting the discharge rate to 0.5C if that will limit the inverter output to around 2.5kW
The 5kW inverter will naturally top out at around 100A or effectively 1C discharge rate, except for short surges, and that is more relevant in the absence of extra solar power blended in.
Setting it any lower will negate the benefit of buying this inverter and battery combo as a backup in the first place.
Maybe just try to manage loads manually when power is off at night, don't run every appliance during loadshedding if you can avoid it.

I have my whole house on the SunSynk EXCEPT: Stove, oven, pool pump and geyser.
    4 bedroom house, 2 kids:
Average general consumption hovers between 400 - 700Wh. So with that, I get 9 to 11 hours without the sun. However, I do boil kettle, use microwave and air fryer for breakfast/dinner times, so that can consume.
During the day with sun - easy the whole house, including fans, dishwasher, washing machine, iron - no problems.
Here is an average day usage (yesterday).

    Dear all.
Firstly I would like to wish you all a safe and happy holiday break. I appreciate every single member and their contribution to making this a great, peaceful and happy platform to enrich each other with knowledge and advise. This was the goal when I started in 2013 with myself as 1 member.
As the aviation industry is a very uncertain career I started the powerforum store about 2 years ago. I don't and will never request any member of this forum to be obligated to purchase from the store. There are many other commercial suppliers that offer just as great service.
Since the beginning in 2013 , every member that has joined has been checked and manually been clicked on to be accepted to the community. There are so many spam individuals out there that want access to post unsavory topics.
Some of these individuals sometimes get through as they have a perfectly looking Gmail email addresses and locations.
I have tried many different types of automatic spam filters but none are as good as checking with the human eye.
Okay to the point 🤣 : if any members notice a scam or spam member posting I ask you to make use of the report button. Please see the attached image. I require two members to report the post to be automatically hidden for moderation.
The members who have reported the post are also logged. So don't go reporting and hiding a freindly debate. ;D !
This will help me greatly as I constantly have my phone in my pocket checking for scammers to protect our community.
I would like to say thank you again for making this community great and also we nearly at 20 000 members!
Have a safe and restful holiday break.
    Thank you all.
    Sincerely

Also interested to see why @ZCSneeds the firmware.
I have the Greenrich U5000P and not had any issues. (on a 5.5Kw SunSynk)
However, I have a friend with 2 x U5000P in parallel, (on 8Kw Daye) and 1 of the batteries has failed. The battery only last about 20min... His installer has confirmed it is firmware on the battery and is upgrading it today.
Wondering if there is something we should know about?

    Hi Jason,

Wow - that's awesome - thanks very much, this certainly makes my day/month!
I definitely have a use this battery.
Currently I have an Axpert 3KW and Hubble AM4 that I use for lights and IT equipment during load shedding - but regret not going for a larger setup with 48V battery. The last 2 months I have been toying with the idea of upgrading - but currently too costly for me and my current setup is less than a year old. With this battery I can afford to get a 5kW (maybe Sunsynk) and start adding solar.
