I have a geyserwise installed, and to save power now in the winter we heat up the geyser to about 55 degrees and then turn it off by the main breakers. But after about and hour or 2 when we turn it on again the temperature drop till about 25 degrees. We even covered the geyser with a geyser blanket but the temperature still keeps dropping after we switch it off. Does anyone have any suggestions or a reason why this is happening.

My Thoughts:

You have a leaking hot tap in the house, and the geyser is being flushed/refilled with cold water continuously.

(is the water hot enough to use when it says "25" on the Geyserwise?) If the water is hot, then faulty temp sensor, if the water is cold, see point 1.

I have the exact same experience. what I have noticed is that the temperature in the geyser is still ok.. "above 25"  The problem is probably the placement of the thermometer in the geyserwise setup.. I suspect on the cold side of the geyser. Its worse now with cold water intake close to 0 degrees. Usually the true temperature stabilises after about 20min.

To comment on @gkj_muk I have 2 geysers, also with Geyserwise, one I can check the temperature the whole day on one and it will be accurate, and the other drops to 23 or something the second Geyserwise has turned the geyser off. Same models, installed same day by the same person. 2 very very different geysers, though.

I can live with that, i am not fussed seeing the temperature being accurate the whole day at this point.

But as with @Henna123 my Geyserwise shuts down at 5 am, after running for an hour and coming to 55 degrees. I get into the shower at 5, the water gets nice and hot in about 2 minutes, then about 5 minutes in it just drops to I don't know, maybe 35.

I will need to check what @JamesF advised. But that's going to be more than just a hot water leak. In Hennna's case yes. Mine is in minutes. I have an idea that some bafoon has connected a cold water pipe into the hot water pipe, and the moment the pressure drops it floods the pipe with cold water. I don't know how a gyser works, but I would think that it keeps the hot and cold water separate, and whatever mechanism inside that has this function, is faulty. The geyser has been dodgy since install though. I have lots to ponder now, thanks everyone.

Is this a new problem that started soon after the geyserwise was installed? Or is it an old problem that you can now put numbers to because the Geyserwise has a display with numbers on it?

Hi. Had Geyserwise installed. MWS with wifi controller. Unit shows temp of 60 degrees when the element turns off.

But after a 5 minute shower, it drops to 40 degrees on the display. Then the wife showers, drops to 28 degrees after another 5 minutes .

The geyser is off at this time (no AC per timers). Checking the graph, the temperature rises to about 40 degrees overnight without any power to the element.

Water in the shower is still piping hot though after our showers.

I suspect a faulty probe or Gremlins lol

is the temp probe not to close to the cold water inlet of the geyser? that will explain all of the mentioned symptoms.

Hi, That is what I am suspecting. I will get used to it I suppose. As long as the missus has hot water on demand, all good hehe

The geyser wise uses a smart Thermostat that sits in the normal thermostat position near to the water inlet.

It will drop quickly when cold water enters the geyser.

Mine does the same, I have the suspision that the temperature shown is not a true reflection of the actual temperature of the water.
