May 31, 20233 yr Good day. Have anyone installed the Huawei Power M solution 5kwh inverter plus 5 or 10kwh battery. Any opinions on this system? Regards
June 4, 20233 yr I have also been looking for more info but struggling to find much from people who have installed it. Huawei seems to be more popular outside of South Africa compared to brands like Deye/Sunsynk. But I guess they launched their products too late to grab market share and popularity. Huawei SA have uploaded videos recently on detailed product features and installation guide. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHTK-MDpaGA&t=4s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxy4E2ubGXA&t=4s Also found a few technical specs online, the system looks impressive and seems to offer pretty much all the features the deye/sunsynk systems do. Their warranty is also good, 10 year replacement warranty. https://begreenpower.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/iSitePowerM-Residential-Solution-PDF-Brochure-Full.pdf http://a365.acdc.co.za/Images//spec/ISP-M-MAB05B1 %2BISP-M-MAP05A1.pdf But, I it would be good to get feedback from users who have it installed.
June 29, 20232 yr Hi there - Its a really nice product - really nice in a backup power scenario IMHO and where your power demands do not exceed the inverter which is only 6KVA - Does have PV Input so you can add panels on. Makes a very neat single unit install. Edited June 29, 20232 yr by Rosh
July 3, 20232 yr Hi Rosh, thanks for the perspective on this. I've always thought it looks like an easy compact option. Do you know if you can install it inside a living area without worrying about the firewall situation that's been cropping up with other inverter/battery set-ups?
July 3, 20232 yr Busy reading the brochure you posted milespeters - thanks. I see they say it shouldn't be installed in daily living areas. Still, it's compact nature makes it easier to put in an out of the way place than with other systems. PS: Someone mentioned to me that you can't split essential and non essentials on it. Not sure if that's true or if it matters. 🤔 Edited July 3, 20232 yr by Empowered

I had an electrician come check out my home wiring before doing this, to make certain it would be up to spec (old house). There were some minor fixes and then I had him split out the kitchens and a 150L Geyser. I should mention that the rear of the house is converted into a flatlet with its own kitchen (and DB) that was also split out. Also on direct Eskom is the Garage and Pool pump. Some extra breakers were needed in the 2 DB's for the split, and an extra cable was run from the Power-M to the flatlet DB. The Power-M therefore supplies all plugs except the 2 kitchens which are still direct Eskom. This means the Power-M is all self-consumption, and no feedback into the Eskom grid! The small extra DB required for isolation can either be Eskom / Inverter / Isolated. We do not run oil heaters/hair -or- clothes dryers/vacuum cleaners on the inverter while load shedding, but have lights/plugs for the rest, and so far we have used an average of 15% battery during load shedding. There is some buzz from the inverter while charging at times, but mostly its quiet - no louder than a fridge, really. I have heard some other inverters with their noisy fans.... those need to be in a totally separate are like a garage if you can - which I couldnt do. The inverter is in our "study" room which is sort of "open plan". So far I'm very happy with it. I just want to get the Huawei app to work on my network now, hoping that will be sorted soon, as you need to re-connect your phone's wifi to the inverter wifi if not.

Hi, I see in the user manual that you can connect more than 1 unit in a Master - Slave configuration for larger requirements, as well as having a generator connected if needs be.
October 15, 20232 yr Hi there, I had M-Power installed in Feb 23. At the time IOS was not supported on the Fusion Solar app (this was not declared before purchasing) but Huawei promised it will be available soon. Therefore, since Feb I had no insight into the unit. Now the unit is giving trouble by discharging even when eskom is restored. I phoned the installer who is now refusing to have anything more to do with Huawei and says he cannot help I should speak to them. Huawei call centre says they cannot help I need to talk to the installer. The Fusion app is still not supported on IOS, although they claim it is. I can download it, but it does not work. This explains the 1 out of 10 rating... This is a mess, and a great product is being screwed by Huawei South Africa after sales service. I now have to manually switch the system off and on between loadshedding. I recommend not to purchase Huawei.

Yes, I was also extremely disappointed by the sales person who did not tell me about the requirement for a Huawei operating system. Unfortunately we are held to ransom with the failing international relations as Google's Android operating system is no longer allowed on Chinese phones. I expect that this is the same issue with IOS. Can you please tell us approximately what area you reside in? Perhaps another Installer will go the extra mile and assist you (hopefully at a minimal call out cost), since the system will need to be checked by an installer anyway, and replacements ordered under the Guarantee/Warranty. It may also help to say if you bought this unit from a cellular supplier or a well known retailer? AFAIK, there are 3 ways to connect to the Power-M. I am assuming that you do have WiFi and Internet access available at home. Did your installer connect the Power-M to to the internet via your WiFi? If yes, then there is an internet link for desktop/laptop access which is best for this option. The following 2 apps can be installed on Android phones if you first download and install the Huawei AppGallery. 1. NetEco Android App, - connects via the Power-M built-in WiFi, and you need to connect your phone to this WiFi to access the settings. 2. FusionSolar Android app, connects via the Power-M which should have been connected to the Internet. 3. Desktop Web Access. This is a web URL that your installer should have given you access to. The installer needs to create a username for you to give you logon access as the owner. Note that there are 2 logon's to access via this URL a) Installer access and b) User/Owner access. Link https://intl.fusionsolar.huawei.com/ I found the Huawei info on the South African Photovoltaic Industry Association (Sapvia) site (https://sapvia.co.za/directory/) if you have not already contacted them.
