Good day.

 

I have the sol-i-is-4s mecer 4 kw infinity inverter. Running with svlot 48v 5.09kw lifeop4 battery. Have 9 430 panels in serries. Settings that i want to change is where it say 10amp from pv my panels is 13.9. Cant seem to change. Also want to upgrade firmware as it seems thos is an old inverter.

That may be that  it's 13.9 A at the battery end of the solar charger, as opposed to 10 A of panel current.

Voltronic inverters (Axpert or Infinisolar) usually don't display PV panel current.

Not sure if I understand where the 10A is displayed. 

See settings 02 and 11 for the actual battery charge current setting when charging from grid and grid and PV combined. 

On a sunny day 9 x 430W panels should provide more than 10A to battery if set higher and battery or loads need the power. 

As Coulomb indicated the 13.9A could be from the panels. 

If you say it's an old inverter then it might not be able to handle 9 x 430W panels in series. Look at the MPPT RANGE on the sticker on the side of the inverter.

 In the image is where it show setting for my pv current. My inverter is rated at 5000w pv input. 10 serries panels of 250 watt  and second bank in parralel total 5000 watt. I am an electrician by trade but these is all new to me, and have not been active in trade for over 8 years now. I did the install and inverter was bought from someone that upgraded. I am not sure how old it is, can find info on it. That is also why i want to check and upgrade firmware to see if i can then change this setting.

Yes, but invirter is set to max 10 amp. that is what i want to change but cant. Please see my added pictures where it show ma pv at 10 amp

Sorry I am not familiar with the APP you use that limits the PV current. Standard settings for the Axperts I have seen does not have this setting. The Axpert settings just allow you to change the PV charging and AC charging going  into the battery. 

Post a picture of the sticker on the side of the inverter.

The 10 A max panel current appears to be a design limit of the inverter. You can't change it, and there is no need to change it. It's just letting you know that it won't use more than 10 A of panel current.

The inverter will use what it can handle, plus a little overshoot when things change quickly, but it should be designed for occasional short overloads. The control algorithm may be a little twitchy with the extra potential panel current, so you might find some odd behaviour now and then.

This is a continual problem. Inverters are designed for the panels currently on the market, and panels get bigger and bigger over time. I remember when 200 W was a standard panel, and 215 W was amazing. Now there are 500 and even 600 W panels, and no doubt it will creep up further. But it means that older inverters can't handle all the power of modern panels, or at least the larger ones.
