Do not yet have a system installed, eyeing an 8kw SS/Deye with 8x550w panels and 2x5kwh Shoto batteries (1C Max). What I'm trying to achieve is to have the geyser running almost as much as now (on eskom, no timer). However, I understand using the timer will help maximize the PV usage/production, so happy to make a slight adjustment there. My question is, the Aux/SmartLoad output on the inverter, can it work like this: When battery SOC% is above the "ON" % and grid available, use PV and battery then grid. If no PV, then battery then grid. When battery SOC% is below the "OFF" % and grid available, use PV then grid. If no PV, then grid. When battery SOC% is above the "ON" % and grid not available, use PV and battery. If no PV, then battery. When battery SOC% is below the "OFF" % and grid not available, use PV. If no PV, then no power. I believe ticking "on grid always on", setting the "W" to 0, and example SOC% ON at 95%, OFF 80%, will achieve this. Is that correct? Thanks

Thanks I am not answering your questions but I think the Deye/Sunsynk is smarter than to try and use Axpert type settings. It can use PV for a combination of loads. An example is that you can have PV and you might want to use it for your other loads as well as charging the battery to your timer settings and use the aux port when you have excess PV. These questions can be answered by some of the clever guys that know the Deye/Sunsynk.
June 21, 20233 yr Author Thanks, I do understand that it will blend from the 3 power sources. So the order of consumption still matters in those cases. Anyone with some real world experience on using this port successfully? The basic idea is to always run the geyser when PV/battery allows, and never to unnecessarily drain the battery with the geyser.
June 24, 20233 yr Author If I can take one last stab at this question for the 8kw Sunsynk.. Connect geyser to aux load (not non-essential) and "on grid always on is ticked", battery ON SOC% 95%, battery OFF SOC% 80%, solar set to 0W.. When grid is up, and PV is bumping, will it use PV to power the aux load irrespective of battery SOC%?

So when "on grid always on" is ticked, it will still look at the battery SOC% to determine whether to use grid or battery/PV?
June 25, 20233 yr As long as it sees the grid (Grid always on), it will stay on. As soon as the grid falls away, it reverts to the SOC parameters. Just be mindful of the power setting in the dialog.
June 25, 20233 yr Author Ah ok, cool. Apologies if I'm being thick, so does that mean when grid is available it will always use grid or will it still use battery/pv as the UPS load does?
June 25, 20233 yr Author Cool! Thanks So it doesn't really achieve what I was hoping for. A geyser that is powered by PV/battery on a sunny day but grid in the evening (or cloudy day), without manually changing settings during the day. The idea is to balance savings and battery SOC to get through the night. It can be done by manually ticking the "on grid always on" on cloudy days, and in the evenings.
