June 20, 20233 yr Hi We have really been enjoying our new solar installation, but there is one more thing that would make my life easier! We currently have our geyser connected to the Sunsynk inverter so that solar can help power it during the sunny hours. If I'm not mistaken it's connected as a "non essential" load, so that if the grid drops, it can't be turned on/waste battery power. I have a CBI timer connected to the DB that allows me to set when the geyser is on or off. The inconvenience is that I would like the batteries to be fully charged before putting the geyser on, so currently I have to check the battery charge and turn the geyser on manually. For the most part this works, but sometimes I don't get the timing close and only turn the geyser on a long time after the batteries are at 100%, this causes a lot of "waste" because the systems idles until the geyser is on (I hate wasting the power, it bugs me no end ). What I am looking for is a way to keep the geyser timer "on" continually, but to create some sort of rule to say "When the batteries are full, run on all non essential loads" so that they geyser will be inactive until the batteries are full. Does anyone know if this is possible, either using the Sunsynk inverter settings, or something like home assistant? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks
June 20, 20233 yr HI. Yes its easy to do this through an automation in home assistant. The CBI switch can be managed through the Local Tuya integration and there are a couple ways you can integrate your inverter. @Sc00bs has been releasing some great videos. have a look at his channel.
