  1. Solarfinity did ours for us, the are a master installer. https://www.solarfinity.co.za/
  2. We got the following: 10 x 545 Watt JA solar panels 8kW Sunsynk inverter 2 x 5.32kWh Sunsynk batteries Installation The cost was R190 000. I could have gotten it cheaper (as low as R160 000), but with cheaper batteries/inverter, and from suppliers that I couldn't find anything about. There were also quotes for R210 000+ for a similar system.

  4. Hi I would like to get Home Assistant running and integrated with my solar installation. I would have liked to get the Home Assistant OS running on a Raspberry PI 4, but they seems as rear as a four leaf clover at the moment. In the Home Assistant documentation they mention installation on ODROID devices, I can find them on the website of a company called cyberconnect. I am specifically looking at the ODROID N2+. It's more expensive than the PI, but it's what I can find. https://cyberconnect.shop/en_GB/shop/product/odroid-n2-550?category=17 Has anyone used cyberconnect? I can't find much about them. Also, any other ideas on devices that you have Home Assistant running on would be welcome. Thanks!
  5. Hi We have really been enjoying our new solar installation, but there is one more thing that would make my life easier! We currently have our geyser connected to the Sunsynk inverter so that solar can help power it during the sunny hours. If I'm not mistaken it's connected as a "non essential" load, so that if the grid drops, it can't be turned on/waste battery power. I have a CBI timer connected to the DB that allows me to set when the geyser is on or off. The inconvenience is that I would like the batteries to be fully charged before putting the geyser on, so currently I have to check the battery charge and turn the geyser on manually. For the most part this works, but sometimes I don't get the timing close and only turn the geyser on a long time after the batteries are at 100%, this causes a lot of "waste" because the systems idles until the geyser is on (I hate wasting the power, it bugs me no end ). What I am looking for is a way to keep the geyser timer "on" continually, but to create some sort of rule to say "When the batteries are full, run on all non essential loads" so that they geyser will be inactive until the batteries are full. Does anyone know if this is possible, either using the Sunsynk inverter settings, or something like home assistant? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks

  13. An update from my side. I decided to go with Solarfinity. My experience with them has been very positive so far. They gave good advice and were always available if I had a question or concern. They were very prompt and installed less than a week after payment. The installation was very professional and is super neat. I would definitely recommend them! My installation is 1 x 8kW Sunsynk inverter, 2 x 5.32 kWh Sunsynk batteries and 10 x 545 Watt JA panels.
  14. Hi everyone, thanks for a great forum/community! I've learnt a lot and will still learn more! I am looking at installing solar, and am very close to making a decision on a provider. The favourite at the moment is Solarfinity, their pricing is decent, and service as far as asking questions and giving advice has been great. Has anyone used them for an installation that can provide an opinion/reference? Thanks!
