Bush Man
I have an off grid cottage that I use once or twice a month. 12x255W Enersol panels (4 strings x3), 8x260 Omnipower Batteries and a Axpert 5kVA Inverter When I'm not there, should I switch off the AC Mains, or should I leave a fridge or similar running to keep up a little cycling of the batteries? The panels keep on feeding into the inverter&batteries in both scenarios.
Chris Hobson
Switch the fridge off - switch the inverter off. The SCC will continue to function and keep your batteries charged. The batteries do not need cycling to prolong their life. ___
Guest
Flip side. If the fridge must be on, I would put it on solar. Fridge gasses are stirred, batteries are giving some form of ROI etc.
Bush Man
Thanks Guys! Wasn't aware that I could switch off the Axpert as well. Are you saying that even when switched off it still monitors the batteries and keeps them full?
Mark
I think you need to leave the Axpert on but you can switch off mains breaker between the Axpert and the load. Regards Mark
SilverNodashi
I wouldn't switch the freezer off. Some don't like it and seals tend to perish. The draw, when not in use would be very little.
