ATS Switch Backup Power Indicator Light

Featured Replies

Hi, I am looking for a way to turn on an indicator light when my ATS Switch has switched over to Backup Power. I already have a Indicator Light on The Mains and Inverter input, but need a 3rd & 4th one to indicate that the switch is using the inverter or if its using the Mains power.

Indicator 1: Mains Power Available

Indicator 2: Inverter power Available

Indicator 3: Mains Power is being used currently

Indicator 4: Inverter Power is being used

Thanks,

Hardus

Is this the ATS 240 on a Sunsynk for the Neutral / earth bond or a transfer switch?

If Auto transfer switch, give model and brand etc.

Its for a normal separate ATS Switch. I have one built on a Relay and other on a ATS Switch.

I attach pics of the ATS Switch and the relay version Schematics.

Hardus I am not exactly sure what you need to do.

The ATS has got LED's for indication where the power comes from.

Do you need indication at a different position, iow. not close to the ATS?

The Big ATS Has 2 indicators to show if the power is present yes, the Relay ATS only has one led to show that power is present, but I need 2 more indicators to show which power is currently in use such as a light to show that eskom is in use and another that the Inverter is in use.

To use an ordinary relay for indication purposes ONLY, here is a schematic.

Relay is energized with grid present.

But you must really stick to a proper ATS or a Change-over switch that the contacts break before they make.

With a relay, you can't be sure about this. (Break before make)

Thanks, will try tonight. These relay ATS Switches is only for light duty things such as between a tv / pc and generator / inverter, not for in a whole house configuration, but I can use this circuit in conjunction with a normal ATS Also in a DB for Indication purposes only.

I dont understand what you mean by "contacts break before they make".

Your switch has 3 positions.

Off position (o) - No power from any supply.

Turn knob left from Off - i - power flow from supply.

Turn knob right from Off - ii - power flow from different supply.
