Lithium battery? Mecer Inverter

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am sure this has most likely been asked before, but blonde me can’t seem to find previous threads on this topic.
I have a Mecer 12V inverter (720W). Would I be able to swop out the deep cycle battery with a lithium battery. I have seen some conflicting info regarding this and very unsure and weary to fork out lots of $$$ for a lithium with the risk of it not being compatible. Would so appreciate your insights. Many thanks.

You are right. Some people have found the inverter will not switch on. If the lithium battery is connected to another inverter it works fine.

It remains a risk.

Further the lithium should not load to 100% as the charger voltage is a bit on the low side. They were designed for lead acid and also protected the lead acid by not charging to 100% SOC.

To make it worse there are friend that have the same inverter and they each bought a different lithium battery and one make will work and the other not.

Perhaps better to buy from walk in store where you can test it when buying.

Thanks for the offer.

Let's see if @Nix

want to go this route or if someone in Centurion can supply a Mecer 720W for such a test.
