September 19, 20232 yr Help trying to work out which of the two would be the best system to buy had a few quotes from companies (UK) but still no sure system 1 450w Aiko all black panels (AIKO-A-MAH54Mb) X 16 6kw Growatt Hybrid Invertor (SPH6000TLBL-UP) 6.4 growatt battery (GBLI6532) X 2 Or system 2 430w Longi panels (LR5-54HTB-430M) 6kw LuxPower Hybrid Inveror (LXP 6K) Greenlinx Battery (LV-L3.2-1P) X 4 12.8 kWh Total Battery Storage
September 19, 20232 yr There doesn't seem to be much to choose between these systems. If price were the same, I'd opt for Growatt's combination of inverter and battery from the same manufacturer, with slightly higher-powered Aiko panels, and less cabling between just 2 batteries as opposed to 4. These are not necessarily make or break issues, and otherwise the features and functions, and brand reputation and capacities are comparable. But if there are options to investigate additional inverters, I'd add quotes for the 6kW Solis S6 hybrid (S6-EH1P(3-6)K-L-PRO), or else one of the Sunsynks or Deye-branded types, at least the 5kW, but better yet the 8kW. This is mainly because of the 80A/4kW charge/discharge rates of the Luxpower and Growatt inverters to/from battery, that severely under-utilize the capabilities of the batteries, rendering their specs pointless. Maybe in the UK you wouldn't care about this too much if your grid is stable, and your solar radiation onto the panels is lower, but here in SA with frequent power outages, if you are off-grid more often, you'd rather want greater backup power to run your whole house if needs be, and charge faster between outages.
