December 6, 20232 yr Hello, just tried the first time Batteryview 3.0.28" on a Win11 System, language & region set to english. It started, but then after starting the connection, choosing the right port, i got the above message / below picture. Is it because of Win11 (is it working for someone) or missing some software ? December 7, 20232 yr I just uploaded an (updated?) version of 'Batteryview' sent by Pylontech that I have personally not yet got to work (it just times out and fails to connect under Windows 10 20H2, despite the same OS and USB->RS232 adaptor communicating fine via terminal 'pwr' etc commands in coolterm). It might be worth a shot... You might get a different error message. 😜

Do a search on this forum sure its been mentioned quite a few times.

Just for the record, did this before my posting, the error other threads is different and the suggested solution was to switch language/region settings to US-English. I did this before i posted the question, as it doesn't worked here But anyway, this, i will try the other suggestions
December 7, 20232 yr Author Good news, problem solved! I found a newer version of Batteryvew, 3.0.29, this version worked on Win11 without giving the error. I did directly a back-2-back test with old 3.0.28, which still doesn't work, so it's not related to any region setting in my case etc. Kind regards

I'd tried versions 3.0.28, 3.0.29 (thanks, Youda) and the 3.0.33 that Pylontech sent me (posted above), each with a CH340, PL2303 and a CP2101 interface, tried under 'wine' in linux mint 21, then a fresh Windows 10 virtual machine, then a native win 10 install (all updated to include .NET 4.8.1)... all to no avail. Not connecting. In desperation I did a native install of Win 11 (21H2), plugged in the CP2102 again and bingo! 3.0.33 working fine. Happy days. 😎 I guess it's good to have the occasional reminder of why I don't go near Windows if at all possible. 🫤

December 25, 20232 yr Just for reference: I'm on Windows 7, and 3.0.28 didn't work for me either. Same error with the unicode failure. 3.0.29 runs just fine and I was able to read the data from all 8 of my US5000 batteries (all of them on software version 1.3). So it's likely not related to the Windows Version, but just some bug in the software. Thank you very much for providing the newer versions of the monitoring software!

Can not get the CH340 to work - have you tried that in your tests?
March 17, 20242 yr Sorry, I didn't ever retry the CH340 with Win 11 after I got the PL2303 working. I'd offer to test it, but I'd rather remove my own eyes with a spoon than look at Win 11 / .NET ever again. 😬
