February 16, 20242 yr Hey I'm trying to get a sense for which cost effective mounting solutions I could use. I'm looking to install potentially quite a few panels (32), so I am trying to bring the cost per panel down if I can. Please critique my thinking, and if you don't mind, share what you used as a mounting solution? It's a clay tile roof. March 5, 20242 yr In my opinion I would think P2000 is the most cost-effective solution, but I have found the thin 1mm thickness material of the P2000 easily bends when tightening the panel clamps a bit too much compared to aluminium rails, that you can really put some force onto the bolts without bending anything. The aluminium comes at a price though but it's my preferred option.
March 5, 20242 yr Another point is that P2000 is not meant for panels, sure people use them and there are clamps adapted for it. However my thought process is that it is not designed for it thus if a panel had to blow off the roof the insurer will ask for the specs of P2000 or even just state it's not designed for PV panels. I have lost many a quote due to using proper mounting systems designed for panels to the P2000 quotes. Also for if it's worth anything at all the mounting systems for PV panels has warranty on it. Although I don't see it ever being called upon as well as probably some clause that makes them not liable. I am sure someone here smarter than me can help out and perhaps it's fine then that is awesome but I don't use P2000. KD solar or Renusol is what I use and mostly Renusol at that.

Especially long runs of panels seen on warehouse IBR roofing. Is expansion joins required and what's available on the market?
