WIRING COLOUR CODES

Featured Replies

My apologies if this has been answered previously.

Is it mentioned in any standard/regulation what wire colour coding applies to embedded power sources.

I would think that "LIVE" from the  INVERTER  should be different colour (Blue eg. ) from that of the GRID (Usually RED)

The same should apply to the NEUTEALS.

Comments or direct answers will be appreciated

Perhaps not the ideal answer but neutral MUST be black and earth yellow/green. A live wire can be any colour than these 2. Just practical to make the grid red.

Red and Black also for DC from panels and battery.

I stand to be corrected as this is what the regs used to stipulate many decades ago.

Members in the know can provide the current correct colours.

My understanding is that this is the reason why the regulations/code insist/require visual indicators (lights/labels) to show grid or generator/pv active or not. So this effectively allows for the same colour coding to be used regardless of the supply source.
