Deye importing from grid before using battery?

Featured Replies

What does this sentence from the Deye inverter manual mean? How would the inverter be configured to use grid power before battery? It could be forced with Time of Use and setting the minimum battery SOC high. Is there another way to set the grid priority higher than battery?

There is Load and Battery priority, but I thought this just applied to where excess solar would be used first.

In the timer/work-mode screen you can:

  • Specify 'Power' to limit how much power may be drawn from the battery during that timeslot. If the demand exceeds that, it'll hand the balance over to grid if there's insufficient PV
  • Specify the 'Batt' % to set a battery minimum for that time slot; it the battery drops to/below that value then it'll hand over entirely to grid if there's insufficient PV

I use this to slowly target 100% going into the evenings by targeting a higher % and lower Battery Power allowance as sunset approaches.

I still see no way to set grid as a higher priority than battery. (Not that I’d want to.)  I can prevent battery from being used below a specified percentage but that’s not setting a priority, that’s making battery power unavailable. I think much has been lost in translation from Chinese to English.

There are two ways.

1. Disable time of use. Then the inverter will operate as a UPS and only use battery when grid is down.

2. Enable time of use and set minimum battery to 100%.

This is new information. I did not know that battery would only be used if Time of Use is active. That’s another thing the manual doesn’t mention. I assumed the default would be to use battery, but I guess there’s an equally strong argument for making the preservation of battery the default.
