April 24, 20251 yr Hi, Im having a problem, I have 3 Svolt 48v 4.8kwh 15 cell batteries in parallel, the primary battery(dip set to 1 on) is all of a sudden over charging and tripping it's CB's at around 53.2 volts and not 100%, individual cells are reading 3.330v,When this happens the other 2 batteries are reading 49.7 volts and discharging. Have I set somewhere the wrong settings on the BMS TOOL as these batteries use a Pace BMS
April 24, 20251 yr 21 minutes ago, Cyclic said:Pace BMSThere's your problem :-) as far as I am concerned these BMS' suck...But probably your main issue is unbalanced cells... which again the BMS should take care of, if it had any balls whatsoever :-)If the cells all were at 3.330V then 15 of those should add up to 49.95V which should not give you a over voltage error, unless one or more of the cells are actually more like 3.600V or more...Unfortunately I cannot say what settings the BMS should have, maybe someone who does not think they suck can give you some input on this...You are not stating whether the batteries are connected to an inverter and if so, what inverter and whether there is communication between the inverter (if there is one) and the battery bank... maybe assuming you have an inverter and there is comms, try the following for a while... let the inverter treat the batteries as manually configured batteries with a charge Voltage or 52.5V and if it can charge them until the current is down to 1A or less, then you should have fairly full batteries and it they did not flake out with over voltage errors should also be fairly well balanced, I would think... after you have them working like this for a few days without and further problems, hopefully, go back to the initial settings, which presumably were BMS comms to and with an inverter.... Have I set somewhere the wrong settings on the BMS TOOL as these batteries use a Pace BMSPerhaps you changed the cell and or pack overvoltage level in the BMS settings?.The PACE BMS is one of the most user configurable BMSes in use which is why so many different cell manufacturers use them in their pre configured batteries. Also one of the few BMSes that can limit charge amps.It uses a passive balancer, so like most BMSes that use the same it cannot and will not resolve large deltas in cell voltages.
