Electrical geyser to supply gas geyser

Featured Replies

I have a 10KVA inverter with 5500W of Solar panels. I want to heat up my electrical geyser during the day using my inverter and I want to connect the outlet of the electrical geyser to the inlet of the gas geyser just to top up the temperature if need be. Will this work as it may use little gas compared to shutting the electrical geyser off totally. Please advise....

yes it will work, and it will work well.

I preheat my electric geyser to 40 degrees, and use the gas geyser to top up to 55 degrees. I have a low pressure gas geyser(not a forced fan unit) I set the flow rate to max and the gas knob to min,

with this setup I use 9kg per month ( 4 person household).

the reason I only heat up to 40 degrees is because of my limited PV panel power, I could only "afford" to dump 4kw/h per day into the geyser.

I recently added 1.2 KW pv panels so I will revise my thermostat set temperature to 50 degrees for even grater gas savings.

I have a similar setup too. Solar geyser with flat panel and 200l tank that can reach 65 degrees easily. The output from the tank is connected to the gas boiler inlet through a thermostatic valve. Boiler temperature is set to 50 so, it only burns gas when inlet water temperature is lower than 50 degrees or to heat up the house in winter.

In addition, I have added a 1kw heater cartridge inside the 200l tank, so I can also dump excess electrical power from PV into solar tank too.

From May till October, the boiler remains switched off (northern hemisphere).
