March 30, 20197 yr I don't have space inside my garage / house for batteries... so they'll have to live outside in a box or enclosure of some sorts. The box can sit right next to the garage - hopefully keeping the cable run as short as possible. The enclosure will be in the sun for a part of the day. I was thinking of insulating the box, or using some kind of prefabricated insulated material. Also, adding a tiny roof over the box to keep the sun off it, and perhaps some shade cloth? Any thoughts on this?

Any thoughts on this? I struggled with the same idea. Things that I thought of, as it should not be an issue, are: 1) Temp - keep it as close to 25 Deg C as possible. Batts do not like high temps and definitely not very low temps. 2) Goggas and spiders - keep it clean. 3) Obviously no water inside. This is for ventilating lead acid batteries. If they are AGM, then you don't need them outside, just a wee bit ventilated for in case. And if it is Pylontechs or other Lithium brands, you can put them in your sock drawer if you want. 🙂 My point? Depending on the type of batt you have you can mount them inside on a wall on a shelf. (From socks to wall mounted, you did not see that coming. 🙂 ) Edited March 31, 20197 yr by Guest
