MAX VOC

Featured Replies

Good day.

I hope some could give me some advice please.

What would happen I i have a max VOC of 450 on my Inverter but have 490VOC comming from the pannels?

Thanks. I got some advice from the supplier. Told me to rather split the string into two series strings and then parallel them to reach the max pv aray of 6000W and stil be under the Max VOC

That could work but make sure that the input current does not exceed the maximum that the MPPT can handle, most high voltage MPPT's has a limit on the input current and if the current is past that limit then the MPPT does not use that current, if the MPPT does not use the current then the power generated by the panels are also not used.

I would rather suggest leave one panel out in the series string than to split the panels up into two strings with the same amount of panels in series and then parallel the series strings up to the input to the MPPT.

Another alternative is if the inverter specifications and the solar panel specifications are known then let's calculate the optimum for that inverter and solar panels.

Hi thanks.

Inverter

The VOC is 450

MPPT is 120-430V

The MPPT Input curent is 27A

Max PV Aray is 6000W

Pannels x10

49.4 VOC

Imp 13.14A

Vmp 41.5

Pmax 545W

Ok, since there is 10 solar panels then 2 strings of 5 panels in series would work, so that would be 5S2P or 5 in series for one string and another 5 in series for the second string and both the strings in parallel.

Yup thats how I understand it to be. To my understanding this would be the maximum pannels I would be able to connect to the system, correct?

I did not see the inverter being mentioned. Sunsynk/Deye in 5 kW size can in fact accept panels up to 6400 W. A number of new inverters can accept panels higher than the size in kW rated.

This is a Mecer 5.6 kw inverter.

One more question. I would like to ad a second 5.5 kw battery to mt existing system. Do I need to change any settings on the inverter self? Or do i simply conect the second battery and do the setting of the dip switches?
