Ugrade advice, pairing of different sized Shoto SDC10-Box batteries

Featured Replies

Good morning,

Hoping someone with experience can advise. I have a Deye 8kw Hybrid system running with 3x Shoto SDC10-Box 5 (5.12kwhr) batteries. I'm looking to upgrade my battery storage but buying more 5.12kwhr batteries is inefficient.

Can I purchase and install the SHOTO SDC10-Box 16kWh LiFePO4 Battery 51V 314Ah ?

link for reference: https://energytechstore.co.za/shoto-sdc10-box-16kwh-lifepo4-battery-51v-314ah-rackmount

Existing batteries: https://www.geewiz.co.za/lithium-ion-batteries/196065-shoto-lithium-ion-lifepo4-51kwh-51v-battery-100ah-512kwh.html

Or am I forced to sell my 3 existing 5.12kwhr batteries and replace them with 2x 16kwh batteries?

Thanks in advance.

Think about handling, i.e in case of requirement to move them. A 4.8kWh battery weights about 45kg. 2 persons can handle this but everything larger would require lifting devices. Better make up your storage needs with several handy units. Also in case of failure of one it would impact the system less.

No sir... A 5kWh battery can be handled by one person. The 16kWh only requires 2 people, no lifting equipment. We install 16kWh batteries almost daily and I have even installed a few by myself without assistance from my crew if they are too busy on the roof installing panels

Good for you! Not everybody is such a Hercules that can lift 70kg, neither am I.

Did you go through with this? Did the devices work together?
