Power cycling in the mornings, possible issues.

Featured Replies

Good day guys,

I am posting this in hopes that someone might have insight as to what an issue might be.

I have a Kodak OG 10 with The main CPU firmware version is 82.05, and the secondary CPU version is 35.03. I was experiencing a power cycling issue where in the mornings my inverter would turn on and off the AC power output, which was really frustrating for me.

In a more detailed list:

  • My Inverter is set at a cutoff of 10% SOC (This doesn't seem to change)

  • My inverter would turn off around 12 at night, this is because my panels were shaded and so the power generation wasn't so good.

  • My house is completely off grid.

  • In the mornings as the sun came up in the morning the AC power would turn on, then 10 seconds later it would turn off again. This would repeat for a while although I would switch my earth leakage off the power input to my house, so the inverter would have nothing to provide power to.

I, making the wrong decision, asked Google gemini to diagnose my problem, and it told me that it's a hysteresis loop error that is inherent on the line of inverter that I have, which is a remake of the Axpert Max II.

In the time while attempting to fix the problem with all sorts of solution attempts (suggested by AI), The shade that was covering my panels was removed (It was a tree), and the power generation in the mornings greatly increased.

But where it gets odd, is when I was trying to do some testing and trying to figure out the problem myself, and where before every single morning I would have this power boot issue, this time when the power came back on, it just came back on once. Nice

So my question is, is this possibly because there was an increase in morning power input, or is it something else. Another thing to note could be the time between power off (around 4) to power on (around 6 45) is much less than what the usual time is. So maybe the standby mode of the inverter wasn't interrupted and this meant that it powered on more smoothly.

I would really appreciate any ideas.

Thanks for reading.

I think so. With the tree shading, the PV power would be marginal and going up and down as the shade shifts slightly with the wind. With the tree trimmed, the PV power is more constant.

I note that this configuration is unusual. Most people have grid backup, and/or a larger battery that will usually last the whole night.

It's possible that this is improved with later firmware, such as 82.06 and 82.63. The latter also seems to largely address the "PV stuck at 90V" issue.
