August 19Aug 19 Last year, during my last service, I was told that the one battery (that I used as the master), was not working and that the cells were swollen. Now, I generally operate the batteries to never discharge below 30%, and as far as I know, it only went to less than 20% about 3 times in 5 years. This battery was also less than 2 years old. When Glodina took it to the supplier/distributer, it was reported that they will not honour the battery as the battery showed signs of water damage. How, I do not know, as there is no way that water can get close to the batteries (there are no pipes near that area, no taps, I never put anything on top of the cabinet etc.), but I am not going to argue. This year one of the batteries started to give some alarm, claiming low cell voltage. I will try and get a cable and check the status of the batteries. But I want to get to around 20 kW of storage, so I have to add the missing battery, and, assuming another one is giving trouble, potentially 2 batteries (e.g. around 26 - 28K). But I have to say that I have lost my trust with Pylontech. So I am also looking at either going to another make, and even received a quote to go to a 2x 16 kW Dyness batteries (R85,000 with VAT). I can likely sell at least 4 - 5 of my Pylontech batteries - at R6,000 each I might get R20,000 - R30,000 to offset my purchase (2 batteries 6 years old, 2 batteries 4 years old, 2 batteries 2 years old - one giving an alarm to be identified).Any ideas or input? The Dyness powerbrick can do up to 300A. It costs 33k. And Dyness seems to be a more reputable brand. I dont know much about the KNY but since Powerforum is selling it, it must be a good one with warranty they will honour via the manufacturer. The Dyness is also IP65. So at least there is little to no chance of getting the water thing as an excuse to not honour warranty. Edited August 19Aug 19 by Denns

I have 2x 16.08kWh HinaESS PowerGem Max, which is the white-labelled version of the Knyee, was also supplied by @Powerforum Store and its datasheet states 200A continuous max. discharge per unit. I think Knyee is BMS limited even though the cells can do 300A.

Dyness Global site has the Powerbrick and Powerbrick Plus (which is not available in SA), both at 14.336kWh and 140A / 0.5C (Continuous). Yes, it can peak at 300A, but not continuous. 13 minutes ago, Denns said:I guess at 8kW unless he is planning an inverter upgrade to something more than 14kW it should be good. Why? My 32kWh bank feeds a 5k inverter.
August 20Aug 20 Hi Morne,What model Pylontech's are these, with the water and under voltage cell issues? Reason I ask is I have a few U2000 and U3000 cases with working bms's, and the cable/software to scan Pylontechs. Bought due to my own battery issues a few months ago.Fortunately, my other four swollen U2000s and two U3000 batteries were warrenty replaced by Pylontech after 5 years in service. All were replaced with U3000Cs.I'm not too far from you, just next to Swartkops air force base.

My 32kWh bank feeds a 5k inverter.Yes it’s not continuous. Continuous for 2 minutes only.If he upgrades to a 12kW inverter and above then the inverter will be battery limited. That’s what I meant to say. Since he has 8kW the battery limit is of no concern. My preference for dyness is that it’s a good and reliable brand with almost no negative reviews. I would still pick it over a brand that has little long term user reviews on. I can’t find much information online on it. Otherwise there is nothing wrong with the brand you mentioned I can see spec sheet wise. The company has been around since 1998 though. Dyness has been around since 2017. Hinaess since 2022. Friday at 06:425 days Author I still have the 8 kVA multiplus, and it is bore than what we need. Maximum draw, with the geyser and oven on is around 6.8 kW (with typical use), and I am installing a heatpump the end of the month to remove that geyser element (2.8 kW down to 1.4 kW).I bought a Pylontech battery cable from HDcabling, but it does not work. After tracing the error, I see that they had it incorrect, with them swapping pins 2 and 3 on the serial interface. I did fix it, but the cable still does not work, so I do not know if it is the USB - Serial cable that they supplied. So for now I cannot read the status of the batteries. Anyone know where I can purchase a new and working Pylontech battery cable and USB interface, or have one made up in Pta. As a last resort, where I can borrow one (I am in Garsfontein area, Pta)?
Friday at 06:525 days I also bought my USB to RJ45 cable from them, which worked as it should. Initial issues with my Win 11 Com ports, but once sorted, everything worked. What model batteries are you trying to read, as the older U2000/U3000 models used an RJ11 connection.

I plug them into "Console" RJ45 plug. I tried 2 different batteries, but it keeps on timing out. I will try another laptop just in case, but my COM port is correct, and I tried to trace the issue with chatGPT and youtube videos. I got a different USB to serial connector from ElectronicsFG today, which I will try tonight.
