Yesterday at 10:281 day Being on solar has been great over the past few months after my installation, and we have been really enjoying so of the home automation we set up as part of the install. One thing, I am running into is that CoJ has only provided estimated meter readings, and does not respond to my various email with my readings attached. The result is ultimately high electricity bills that are not being offset by my solar installation. Anyone else experienced this, and have an idea of how I can get it solved? TIA
Yesterday at 11:141 day Register on https://www.e-joburg.org.za/ and submit your readings onlineAlso read this article here https://eservices.joburg.org.za/pages/MeterReadings.aspx
Yesterday at 11:151 day Apply for Pre-paid.if the team that comes to install the prepaid asks if you have solar just say no.once on pre-paid the above issues will be gone for ever.get the installer to install a plug point before your inverter to load tokens.set the inverter to always trickle 20W from the grid this will help that the meter does not get a wobbily if some power goes towards it when big loads switch off..have been on prepaid for 4 years and have had solar for 2 and only a pleasure.
Yesterday at 11:161 day alos once you move the pre-paid your network charge will drop from R1200 to R210 a month :-)
Yesterday at 11:311 day Author Unfortunately, electricity meter reading is no longer an option on e-joburg (water only), the meter reading link says the same right at the bottom. The only option is to either send emails that go unanswered or call the call centre which has tremendously long wait times. On the pre-paid route, I was exploring that option, but I understand (and I think it has been posted on the forum a few times) that CoJ is no longer intalling pre-paid meters. I thought about doing this before even installing the solar but was advised its no longer an option.
