Victron mppt

Featured Replies

Hi guys i need to clarify something. What is the start up voltage of the 250/100 Victron mppt charge controller. If you read the brochure is states the start up volt 245 with the absolute maximum of 250 volt. This does not make sense to me. Even if you look at the 150/100 it also states start up 145 volt and absolute max is 150 volt.

Perhaps a bit more is in order. The top 5V is for a protection margin. It won't even attempt to operate that high up, for safety reasons. Compared to the other popular MPPT around here (the one in the Axpert) it's similar and better. The Axpert's starts to derate from 135V upwards and also stops slightly short of its max rating. In other words, this is pretty typical for MPPTs.

For any voltage MPPT 75/? . 100/?, 150/? and the 250/? the start up voltage is the same. The victron differs from most other MPPTs as it will start at Battery voltage plus 5 volt and stop working at battery voltage + 1 volt.

Look right at the bottom of the data sheets, you'll find this little piece:
