Mark Bryant
Hi All, My name is Mark Bryant - I have recently registered to the forum. I have also recently installed two seperate Axpert 5kva inverter systems, one at home that has utility power and one at a camp where the is no utility power. The home system consists of Axpert (Mecer SOL-I-AX-5M) Inverter, 2 PylonTech US2000, and 6 325W panels (2 banks of 3). This system is running perfectly, with the inverter battery setting as per some of the forum thread suggestions I read. Yesterday I plumbed in the off grid camp setup that consists of Axpert (Mecer SOL-I-AX-5M) Inverter, 1 PylonTech US2000, and 12 325W panels (4 banks of 3). The reason for the extra panels is so that I can run a water pump and fridges during the day. When I connected yesterday the system fired up perfectly (see pic below and zoom into screen display) but after a while, without any warning signals I lots the output from the inverter to the load. I did get the HS/H5 indicator so from a prior thread I searched on this forum believe I must change programe 28 to 'SIG', but would this impact the load output. Is there anything else I can check? The setting on the offgrid system are as follows: 1 SOL, 2 20A, 3 APL, 4 SdS, 5 USE, 6 LtE, 7 ttE, 9 50Hz, 11 20A, 12 51v, 13 53v (not in SBU mode so 12 and 13 not relevant but is SOL the correct mode?), 16 OSO, 18 aON, 19 ESP, 20 LON, 22 AON, 23 byd, 25 FEN, 26 53.3v, 27 53v, 28 - not sure but will make sure SIG, 29 47.5v, 31 SbE If 31 was Sbd does it imply that the solar charges the batteries as first priority to max of "2" and supplies nothing to the load? Possibly I changed this in error. As I am new this is a bit of a roundabout of questions and my terminology might not always be correct but thanks in advance for everyone's help and input. Also the off grid installation is remote so any suggestions would be immensely helpful as I am out of comms when there. Kind regards Mark

Welcome, Mark. 16 minutes ago, Mark Bryant said: When I connected yesterday the system fired up perfectly (see pic below and zoom into screen display) but after a while, without any warning signals Are you sure? It looks like the inverter is locked away inside a box, where you don't get to read the LC Display or hear any warning beeps. Quote I lots the output from the inverter to the load. My guesses are: * Overheating; inverters can't be put into boxes like that unless they are well ventilated (lots of forced air flow). With natural cooling, you are supposed to have about 500 mm space above and below each inverter, and 200 mm either side. You can get away with less, but not that much less. * Only one Pylontech; maybe the battery went to low SOC (maybe it's new and not well balanced yet, so it may get better with time), and protected itself from excess discharge. Could you still operate the inverter? Also, the Pylontechs only want to be charged and discharged at about C/2 long term. So after some time at around 25 A discharge (less than 1250 W, that sounds too low, please check this), the Pylontech may well disconnect due to excessive discharge current. Check for errors on the Pylontech. * Related to the above, you may be suffering from one of the premature float bugs, which means it may not be charging your battery properly. Again, it might be protecting itself. Watch the LEDs on the Pylontech, do NOT trust the SOC reported by the inverter. It's poor for lead acid batteries, and rubbish for LFP, such as yours. Your model seems to be an older one with the heatsink on top. It could be updated with patched firmware 73.00e. You would want the LFP flavour. That would allow you to see the internal temperature of the inverter (it could limit power above 50°C, I can't remember the figure and I'm pressed for time). It would also fix the premature float bug. Quote I did get the HS/H5 indicator so from a prior thread I searched on this forum believe I must change programe 28 to 'SIG', but would this impact the load output. The firmware is very complex. It's hard to say what all the effects could be. It might well be causing this issue, though I've not heard of this before. The setting on the offgrid system are as follows: Quote 1 SOL, This will try to switch to AC-in at night. It won't matter unless you eventually connect a generator. In that case, you'll want UTi. Quote 2 20A, Ideally you would want 25 A, so 20 A is safer, but 30 A will use more of your 12 panels; available power (~3000 W real-world output, about 60 A battery current) to charge the battery. Quote If 31 was Sbd does it imply that the solar charges the batteries as first priority to max of "2" and supplies nothing to the load? Sort of. It disregards the load amount, and strictly limits the PV charging to setting 02. You definitely don't want that with so many panels and so little maximum charge current. Mark Bryant
thanks so much Coulomb - it seems to have settled down now and resolved this issue itself.
Gerard Loison
Hi! I shorted the Meccer 1440w 24v. inverter by accident . Now it charges the Batteries but shows a Fault when power is down, is there a reset for the specs show "short protection" Thanks Gerard

I understand you probably searched "mecer inverter" and this popped up, but the model of inverter discussed in this topic is very different from the one you have
