June 2, 20206 yr Good evening everyone, Firstly a quick update on the Axpert 3kVA inverter that kept tripping the AC feed CB. I have decided to retire that inverter for now(will repair it once the new one is installed) and do what i have been wanting to do for quite a while and get an upgrade. I have decided to go for the Goodwe ES5048 and add 6 x Canadian 410W panels to my current setup of 6 x JA Solar 365W panels, with a single 100Ah Lithium battery(for now). Each string of panels will run on a separate MPPT. My questions are the following: Would I be able to just do a plug and play switch with my current wiring setup and connect the AC Out side of the Axpert to the Back-up side of the Goodwe and the AC In side to the On-Grid side? My inverter setup and Sub-DB is in the garage and main DB in the house. Can I connect the EZ meter on the feed line from the house to the Inverter (On-Grid connectors) in the garage where that feeds from the Eskom line on the main DB, or does it have to be on the main line from Eskom before the EL and Main CB in the house? I do have my main DB split on 2 lines where Eskom feeds the Stove, Geyser, Granny Flat and Garage and the other for my plugs and lights that run on the feed from the Inverter(UPS), with a 3 way switchover. The setup instructions do cater for the EZ meter data cable to be up to 100m, so if it has to be installed in the house, it wouldn't be an issue just a bit of extra labour. P.S - From the drawings in the manual it does show the EZ meter before the loads that aren't on the back-up side, i am just hoping that it could be attached differently. If any of the above has been described in a manner unbecoming of a solar/electrical expert, i do apologise. Thank you in advance for the assistance. Regards,

Yes that will work. 1 hour ago, Badhabit said: Can I connect the EZ meter on the feed line from the house to the Inverter No, it will not function correctly. 1 hour ago, Badhabit said: or does it have to be on the main line from Eskom before the EL and Main CB in the house? That is the correct position. 1 hour ago, Badhabit said: The setup instructions do cater for the EZ meter data cable to be up to 100m, so if it has to be installed in the house, it wouldn't be an issue just a bit of extra labour. No issue if you use the correct wire to extend it with (I normally use screened Milar cable, but its expensive) Please ensure you solder the joints to ensure proper connection, just twisting them together creates some problems down the line. 1 hour ago, Badhabit said: I do have my main DB split on 2 lines where Eskom feeds the Stove, Geyser, Granny Flat and Garage and the other for my plugs and lights that run on the feed from the Inverter(UPS), with a 3 way switchover. It should work just fine without any changes.
