July 19, 20205 yr Hi just installed new vmii king less than a week ago. Excited about the upgrade from the old 4k unit. My problem is the fan runs full speed continuously. If I switch the unit off and on the fan ramps up and stops but in about 30min it is running flat out again. This is with very little load on. This is not normal right? Is there a fix?

The King has zero transfer, and is parallelable to 9 units; the VM III has neither. 9 hours ago, Andrewj said: If I switch the unit off and on the fan ramps up and stops but in about 30min it is running flat out again. I assume you have a VM III then. This is a "value line" model, and one of the areas of cost cutting seems to be the control of the fans. One of them seems to be on/off only; the other seems to be able to be speed controlled, but only under certain conditions. I know very little about the VM III model. Perhaps other owners could chip in with their experiences.
July 21, 20205 yr Author Hi Coulomb, thanks for your reply, that is correct it is a vm3 not a king. It does seem to ramp up the fan when first the inverter is turned on. It ramps up the fan, then slows down and stops, then in a in about 20-30min it starts again and then runs flat out continuously. Is that normal then?

August 2, 20205 yr Here is my reply to another thread about the fans on my VMiii: Fan turns on when temp hits 42°C, solar power is greater than ~500W or battery is charging/discharging around ~500W. So not always, but fairly often.
August 2, 20205 yr Author Thanks, there must be something wrong with mine then. It seems to be fine until there is a load that ramps it up, and then for some reason it runs continually. Wonder if it is a firmware problem or a hardware problem? Does anybody have a firmware update for vmiii or know were I can get it?
September 5, 20205 yr Which firmware version do you have? I've had the same issues with the fans and solved it by upgrading with attached files. The most recent Version I have is main-CPU 41.07 and bluetooth 00000.21 Attached you'll find the firmware archive along with the necessary installer for windows. I did the MCU upgrade first, after that the control panel. Use a good serial to usb converter. Some cheap ones do not work! When upgrading, keep in mind that the converter shuts off the power towards the end of the upload. So always use a notbook with charged batteries, otherwise your upgrade will fail and you'll have to debrick the unit... @coulomb pointed me to some posts where you can see a more recent version (41.14 and 0.24), so if anyone here has a more recent version, please upload it or send it to me. GK fan spin program.zip
September 6, 20205 yr Author Hi Data, great thanks for the info, will try it today, will let you know what the outcome is. Did check the version current U1 41 14 Also have some more info, after a few cloudy days, it hasnt done it. (Have and external microcare mppt, not using the build in mppt.Bulk charge is set to 60V as my flooded lead acid is nearing the end.) Noticed it seems that when battery bulk charge reached over 58v the fan starts running and then does not turn off again. Maybe the other firmware will work better.
September 6, 20205 yr 6 hours ago, Andrewj said: Did check the version current U1 41 14 I note that the GK fan spin program zip file above contains U1 version 41.07, i.e. earlier than what you have now. I also note that there is no way to get back to 41.14 if you flash it to 41.07. It also contains a fairly old removable display firmware, version 02.08. That's also likely considerably earlier than the one you have now, although that one you can probably update, since it's the same as the Axpert King removable display firmware, and several versions of those are available, up to 02.49. So I don't recommend you downgrading to that firmware.
September 6, 20205 yr @andrewj When did you buy your GK? And what version is your control panel / U2? Edited September 6, 20205 yr by data
October 26, 20205 yr Same problem for me, VMIII bought in october, very noisy fans run full speed continuously, firmware U1 41.15, U2 2.40, U3 00.24.
November 1, 20205 yr small update, I have a second VMIII with firmware U1 41.19 U2 2.65 and fans are working normally (run only if AC load and speed depend of load).
December 2, 20205 yr Where did you get the 41.19 and 2.65 and can you provide us with the link? Thanks in advance.

December 2, 20205 yr Sorry, I don't have the firmware. The inverter came with it installed. I bought it on rebacas.com
January 1, 20215 yr il mio VMIII le ventole funzionano normalmente si attivano solo se ce un assorbimento la velocità dipendono dal carico e dal 2018 che l'ho installato
January 2, 20215 yr I got the same problem than Andrewj and same version (U1-41.15 U2-2.40 U3-0.24) Axpert VIII 5kva Where is it possible to get firmware 41.19-2.65 or more recent? It should be possible to do a backup on a new machine and post it. Thanks in advance Edited January 2, 20215 yr by Juan Yves Syntax

It's possible that only firmware in a certain range has the problem.

It's available from this site in the Czech Republic: https://www.ostrovni-elektrarny.cz/support/Axpert/FW/ (last few entries pertain to VM III models). Quote It should be possible to do a backup on a new machine and post it. It's not possible to extract existing firmware from an inverter. To do it, you would need slightly specialised equipment and software, not too hard, but also a security number (a string of some 32 hex digits). I'm not aware of that security number being available anywhere. The manufacturer wants to keep it that way, so that clone makers can't easily steal their firmware to use in their competing products, without having the very considerable development expense.
January 4, 20215 yr Author Thanks Coulomb for the link, downloaded and updated the firmware, so far so good. Great, I am very pleased
November 23, 20232 yr Hello everyone, i just want to thank you for this topic, my inverter also have this issue and despite it is brandes like PowMR (Model 5KW III) , this version (41.17) works fine and fixes the fan problem.
January 3, 20251 yr Hi everyone, sorry for posting a recurrent issue. I just installed my new VMIII 4K Twin (the circular color led version) and it has the same problem. The fan runs constantly, at low speed even during nights, with no charge or consumption. The main CPU firmware version is 60.10. I don't know which is the last. Edited January 4, 20251 yr by 4ldesign I've checked similar posts and I wanted to be more accurate.
