August 11, 20215 yr Good day everyone I have been running into bit of a issue with old failing power units(kettles and power supplies) that has damaged my growatt spf5000es that is brand new due to short circuits from them damaging the inverters what can i use on my db. to protect each inverter from exceeding the rated current i do have a circuits barker on that is lower rated then the inverters but that drops to slow and the inverters gets damaged before it falls. I really need help in this regard as I don't want to lose more units due to this.

This is a strange one, not familiar with the ES model but the TL models have 40A breaker that trips and switch the inverter off at around 40A. Mine tripped once and still don't know what caused the trip. It is a little black push button and the bottom of the inverter, next to where the AC wires goes. Coming back to your issue, try and get an 40A fuse that you can install on your Live wire, between your inverter and the DB
August 11, 20215 yr Hi @Dragonmage the spf range is an offgrid inverter range which means you have to use it like you are offgrid or get 2 of them to give you the ability to power loads with a peak of 10kw. Even then 10kw is just 3 appliances that peak at 3kw like an electric kettle, toaster and hairdryer. Which is why if you are going offgrid you first have to look at more efficient appliances, using gas for cooking and even a solar geyser.

I will absolutely look in to the fuse option as well for extra protection. strange part is the the reset button on the two units were both not dropped both was still fine and did not need resetting.

Good day I have 2 of the units with 4x5kva Nerada batteries on them. It is still a hybrid home not a off grid site geysers is already solar/gas and oven/stove is gas and all the lights is grid or 12v lights running separate. and areas like the garage and pool is still on grid don't want to put them up as of yet due to the high power usage in them. my total load is at peek around 4-5kva but average is 300va.
