Hi all... New to solar, just had a 5kw sunsynk installed with a 5kw Hubble AM2. What i have noticed in the 2 days that it is operating is that the battery will charge, once past 80% (which is set in the setup menu to charge to 80% and use grid) it will use the battery to supplement the household load when solar is inefficient and minimise the amount of power taken from GRID. This makes sense to me from an economy standpoint, consuming stored, but does this affect the battery life? Above you can see battery charging, then there is a spike in load, it supplements with battery and recharges again when spike subsides. Question, is this bad for the battery and its lifespan?
  6. Have not, still looking for someone to assist. Thus far have identified essential and non essential, have purchased the Sunsynk, and now looking for a battery /panels and installer.
  7. Hi All, New to solar, but understand the basics. Planning to install a 5Kw Sunsynk with a battery and a few panels. Currently only decided on the inverter, ad confirmed its on the CoCT list. Still looking for a battery, have my eye on the Pylontech UP5000. Do you have any affordable suggestions? SolarMD seems to be a little more expensive than the Pylontech similar to the Hubble. In terms of panels what do you guys recommend? Anyone of suggestions of possible installer in the CPT area?
  8. Hi All, Looking for guidance on a planned install. I would like to install a 5kw inverter (looking at the general topics Sunsynk seems to be an option and is on the CoCT list) with batteries for now. Will add solar later when budget allows. With regards to doing this, do i need to apply for SSEG with city of cape town before putting this in? Choosing from the approved list of inverters will hopefully make life easier later when wanting to add solar. Have any of you done a phased install similar or have some advice?
  9. @Mark R may i ask the reason for moving to the Sunsynk?
