  1. Hey Coulomb

Just want to touch sides with you and thank you for all the assistance you gave me during my solar set up 2 1/2 years ago.

Within the first few months of completion, my system was upgraded to look like this

2 X parallel smd lynx 5000-48 Axpert inverters

    From 1 X 3000 Pylontech to  X3

from 12 went to 21 (7X3) solar 335w JA panels

    Centurion solar SMH P3 software

Apart from some initial minor software issues the system has run near perfectly for 28 months.

The total system cost was around R180K (US$10K). Cost savings have averaged R60/day (US$3.3) with a total of R50K (US$2.8K) to date. So I will probably have another 6 years left to complete pay-back. This is not including an expected average increase of electricity of 15% pa. On top of that my 4,5KVA genny is getting rusty 🙂

Daily generation is around 23KW/day in winter and 31KW/day in summer. PV can hit a high of 7,8KW on a decent spring day and the record solar generation was 40KW on the 3rd of October 2021.

What's more is I don't even know when we have load shedding or power outages due to the systems UPS like facility.

Once again thank you for your assistance in every aspect of this successful project.

  2. Good Day Coulomb  have send you a private message.

  3. Hello.

I hope I find you well.

I would like to find out how much energy -on an average sunny day - a 3.3kwp PV system can produce per day.

    Thanks

  4. Hi Can you maybe assist me with Kodak OG3.24 firmware rollback or installation?

  5. Good Day Coulomb,  I have 3 Infini 10kw 3phase inverters in parrallel. One started displaying an error code 90 and stopped working. My research shows that it might be a firmware problem and it has to do with the serial nrs of the unit. The specific unit was with Mustek 4 times already for repairs and every time it has to be returned to be "fixed". After a short period of time its the same problem again.

    Any Idea to fix it?

    Your assistance is highly appreciated.

    Kindest regards

    Dawie

  6. hi Coulomb

any idea how to get hold of multisibcontrol contact, software give message needs licence payment?

  7. Good Day Coulomb, I wonder if you could comment on my situation? I have had my system running for about a year, I monitor it daily, and basically am happy with its performance but I don't know what is the health of my batteries and whether I am running them correctly? My inverter is a Mercer 5KVA model SOL-I-AX-5P running with 6 PV panels and 4x200Ah AGM batteries - below please find the inverter label and screen shots of the Victron monitor of this morning. From the history can you read anything positive or negative after a year of use?

Firmware updates are pretty easy, as long as you have a Windows PC and a known-good USB to serial adapter. See the firmware section of this post for South African relevant suggestions.

Not really. The minimum battery voltage is a worry - perhaps it was a glitch.

Perhaps consider patched firmware to fix the premature float bug. I believe that patched firmware version 74.40e would work, assuming it's not a 64 V model.

  9. Hi, I'm near to change the firmware with the 72.20e you said to me, but I have a doubt, my batteries are 2 WECO LIFEPo4, with the Dinamic Charge Control, the inversor is able to comunicate with the batteries? or only its optimized the charge steps for lithium without comunication with the BMS?, And If the comunication it's possible is it compatible with Weco 5k3 batteries and how I must connect, the Host inversor to the master batterie with the rs232 cable comes with the batteries?

Thanks a lot, and sorry about a lot of questions, but the batteries has only 1 month...

  10. Hi Coulomb

I would really like to know the correct method for connecting transformerless inverters to the mains neutral. I have been advised by respected techs that the neutral lines on inverter and mains must not be commoned. Your opinion on this would be valued.

  12. Good day Coulomb, I hope you are well.

    I did an installation with a Synapse 5.0k+. I have a bank of 4 x US2000 Lithium, Pylontech batteries. PV is 4 sets of 3 panels, 114V.

    Settings:

    01 - SBU

    02 - 60A

05 - USE ( Could not get coms with pylon batteries )

    06 - restart enable

    07 - restart enable

    09 - 50Hz

    10 - Operation Auto

    11 - 30A

    12 - 49V

    13 - 53V

16 - Solar charges Batteries first

    18 - Alarm off

    23 - bypass enable

    25 - record enable

    26 - 53.3v

    27 - 52v

    29 - 49v

    32 - default charge time

    33 - disabled

I installed a coms cable between the inverter and batteries, but there is no indication that they talk to each other. Since the batteries stood for a year, I expected them to charge for a least 3 hrs before they were full. For some unknown reason, the inverter stops charging when the batteries get to 50% capacity. It also seems as if the top two batteries work with each other, and the bottom two are the same. Their charging lights go on and off together. 1&2 would charge, while 3&4 would be off ( green indication lights ) and vice versa. I have been told to replace the coms cables between the batteries. Is there anything else that I should know of, or might be missing regarding the batteries.

    I am going back to the installation this weekend, ( + / - 800 km )

  13. Good evening Mrr Coulomb. I need help with my system. I have a 5kw mecer inverter,  410w x4 solar panels and 100AH and 50AH leoch lithium ion batteries. Its winter now but i can even get my panes to generate 1000w. on the inverter it goes as high as 220w and my batteries never charges at all. i dont have any grid supply and this is frustrating.

I suspect the settings could be where im loosing the battle here. could you kindly advice as to how to set up my inverter for this panels to give me usable power and charge this batteries.

    many thanks

  14. Dear Coulomb - please HELP with similar issue:-

I am entirely off-grid.  Current system = 9 x 275W panels + 5kW Synapse (Axpert) off-grid inverter + 4 x 2.4kW Pylontech batteries + 6.5kVa back-up generator.  When needing to boost the battery bank using the genny, my inverter much of the time (a lot lately) won't take the charge.  Or it does for a while and then after a few minutes 'kicks it off'.

I would like to charge the bank at a rate of 40A but this is hardly ever possible.  Sometimes when this problem occurs I'll need to drop the incoming charge down to 10A for the Inverter to accept it.  Then I'll raise it gradually to 20A, and then to 30A but then usually after a few minutes the Inverters disengages the charge and I have to drop it to 20A again or even 10A and start the process again.  I am tearing my hair out having to spend so much time in front of the inverter checking & adjusting settings.

Also the inverter almost always disengages the generator charge when the house's water pressure pump switches on...

    Any suggestions please?

  15. Hello my friend

    help about differences between mosfet

N-channel that is with B and without B

    as irfb and irf

    example :-

    IRF1407 and IRFB4110

is there differences between them except volt and ampere ?

as the diode between S and D ?

  16. My apologies - mine is V 72.9

  17. Maybe you can help as well - also have 5ka unit running v 72.49 - which is not working for me at all - seems this was designed to a ups system. No matter what I change during the day solar only charges my batteries. if I switch off the grid then works fine. How can I downgrade or upgrade to what version. Mate has the same system as me with V 72.4 and works fine - your help will be appreciated.

"I found a firmware but it was for mks plus !"

I can't see how you can recover that one, unless you get a new (or original) firmware and/or control board from your supplier.

As for the Infini, it doesn't sound to me like an issue that a firmware update would fix, or would be necessary for. Infinis are complex to set up; my guess is that you have incorrect settings. I don't know enough about Infinis to offer help on that. Perhaps post a question on a suitable forum to see if other Infini owners can help.

The only Infini V firmware I have is for a 3 kW model.

The only possibly 12 V firmware I have is for PF0.8.

Both of these are quite old. Neither has been patched.

Why do you need firmware for these?

  20. Hi i need Axpert/Voltronic King 5kw(Off Grid) inverter firmware

  21. What does #13 (back to discharge voltage) actually - have been playing with that and seems it does nothing - default is 54v - so does any one know what it actually means

  22. Hi Coulomb,

Tx for your reply on my earlier questions re. correct cable to use and whether I can update firmware in situ.

I would probably need to get a usb to serial cable as suggested and my "very old" desktop (powered from mains via the inverter) would lose power during the upgrade.  I will use the laptop instead for the upgrade as my battery will last long enough to complete the upgrade.

Can I ask another quesiton please.  So it seems the inverter can be upgraded by means of 2 alternative ports, the first being the RJ45 port and the other being the serial port.  I deduce this from the fact that you mentioned I can use the RS232 to RJ45 cable or a USB (which I assume plugs into the laptop) and a RS232 cable (which I assume plugs into the serial port on the inverter)

I also have a cable with a USB (plugged into my Raspberry) with a A Male (i think that is what is it called) on the other end (looks like a printer cable.  https://www.takealot.com/goldx-0-5m-a-male-to-b-male-usb-2-0-printer-cable/PLID41305629?gclid=CjwKCAjw7_rlBRBaEiwAc23rhhzP_6sn9ou-eScYEwLt_WwP7VwDt9DqNV6kYHnlwt4IQlVacGh6oRoCI3YQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Can I use this cable for the upgrade as it seems to be able to communicate with the inverter.  It's the same cable I use when I used to monitor the inverter with the WatchPower software on my PC.
