  3. Hi @Rob99, here we go. I checked most of the data registers of @kellerza's script from Register 59 on. I did check the registers that are on the list (and some others which are not so important). The colour-code is at the bottom. Unfortunately I am missing some important information like Inverter Power or maximum charge Power to the battery and all the accumulated values like .....Month/Year Sunsynk 8k LG01 modbus register.xlsx
  4. Thank you @kellerza, that helps! What I don't understand is that I get most but not all the data, for example I can't get the load data at all. Where can I check my firmware version, btw.? And what is the latest Version for the 8k single phase?

  6. Hi @Sc00bs I am not using Home Assistant but iobroker. Do you have an actual modbus table for the single phase 8k Sunsynk inverter?
  7. Aha, ok. I try to read register 065 for example which should give me "Month PV Power"...but I get 0 back. It is not always an error but many times registers that should work, don't.

  9. I am looking for the lastest modbus table for the 8k Sunsynk Inverter. I found several but they are not correct, like the "no chinese" Word file that can be found anywhere. I can't access several of the values there and get read errors. Does anyone have a validated version? Thank you!

Hi MIke, just found your reply...I even didn't know that there is a Sunsynk app now 🙂 iobroker uses cloudaccess for solarman (updates every 5 minutes!), have no idea if there is a sunsynk api... Cloud solutions are good for checking things away from home but as soon as you want to control anything at home direct access most of the times is more reliable and faster. You probably could access data parallel to your dongle. At least it works with my Deye 15K SG01HP3-EU-AM2
  11. Hi, I am wondering if anybody else has a similar experience with the solarmd batteries. My batteries - both 3,7 kWh - one with just above 1100 and the other with slightly more than 600 full cylces, are already down with their capacity to approx. 75%(!) Solarmd's datasheet says ">4000 cycles". When I asked, I have been told that the capacity will only be 60 % at the "end of life" which in my opinion is rather poor, knowing that major automotive companies regard 70-75 % as a limit where they regard batteries as "to be replaced". Anyway, if I calculate 40 % by 4000 cycles it means that after 600 the capacity should still be 94 % instead of 75 %. The older battery should be at 89 %. If this behaviour would only show on one battery, I would say that might be a defect but with both of them being affected, bought at different times, it feels odd if this might even be a behaviour "as designed" or at least a "normal" behaviour for these batteries, which opens the question of quality. The thing now is that I have been told that I can send them in to be "rebalanced". I asked if I get a replacement battery for the time my batteries are in the shop the answer was "no", meaning that I have to endure Loadshedding - Great. If this problem is just a singular problem of a few batteries it wouldn't be a problem to offer this service to one's customers. Actually I suspect some of the cells need to be replaced because they degrade much faster than expected, otherwise I can't explain why this "balancing" can't be done remotely? Maybe someone can enlighten me? The balancing of the support Guy, who is really doing his best to help, took all day, today, discharging the batteries completely and then recharging it up to the maximum and keeping it there for a while. In the end it didn't help and the "fix" was just to reduce the maximum capacity of the battery to pretend that 100% on the display is "100%" - even if it isn't the 100% capacity the battery should have. I had to send in my older battery once before and now I am wondering if this has already might have been related to the same problem, regarding that with 1100+ cycles it is about twice the cycles as the newer battery has, showing the same symptoms. Anyway, I think if it really is the standard behaviour of the battery, to require them to be sent to Capetown every 500-600 cycles and waiting for weeks to be returned, just to reduce the effect of premature capacity reduction, this would be really poor quality and hidden cost that everyone should know about! I was thinking about upgrading my batteries, now I am thinking about replacing them and would appreciate recommendations.

Hi Mike, actually I have a Sunsynk 8k and a Deye 15k (3 phases) and they both work via Solarman App but(!) the App does not provide all the data by far, unlike modbus and it is much too slow to actually "control" anything with it. I would think if you can see the data on your app, the iobroker adapter will read them. Just wait long enough, sometimes you initially need to wait until the next day until they show. Joerg

Hi, I have problems reading data from a Deye SUN-15K-SG01HP3-EU using a waveshare RS485 <-> TCP RTU Adapter https://eckstein-shop.de/WaveShare-Rail-Mount-Serial-Server-RS485-to-WIFI-Ethernet-Module-Modbus-MQTT-Gateway?gad_source=5 I can connect to it but it always returns either "Wrong CRC for frame: 1,3,0,0,255" or "Request timed out" or "Client in error state". Maybe I did not set up the settings correctly? My Modbus settings are MQTT does not work either, it just shows no effect. I can see the RX Lamp blinking though on my waveshare... Anyone any ideas what could be the problem? Are these settings correct and it is an hardware issue? Thanks for any suggestions.

  15. Hi, I am running a Sunsynk Inverter on 10x 300W panels, facing East, approx. 25 degrees tilt and wondering what Energy I should get compared to what I am getting. I only get about 10 kW per day and this seems quite low to me? Am I wrong or what can I check to see if everything is alright? Thanks!

  17. You are right. If I want to check a cabling problem I wouldn't start with a 30 m cable to be honest. I would use a 2 m cable and check if it runs (even without twisted pairs as it could mean another source of error). Once that works move on to twisted pairs and longer cables.
  18. I don't know if this is welcome here but if someone does not use HA and/or has problems get things running with node-red you might wanna try a PI with iobroker and the software modbus adapter. I am running a 8 kW Sunsynk with a Waveshare RS485 to ETH Adapter to extract the relevant data from the inverter into my smarthome based (PI400 with Debian + iobroker - a very good system, with many software adapters!). As I prefer Blockly over node-red (easier to use imho) it is the perfect setup to work with. At the same time I installed an MQTT Software Adapter and receive the data from my solarmd battery logger as well.
  19. You just need the orange, brown and green wire. If this doesn't work, it is not the cable.
  20. That's odd. I can't poll 232 from my SunSynk 8kW. It shows an error. The rest works now. Some values show 0 like all the cumulative Values (week, month, year)...I guess these values are not working on my model..?
  21. Anybody a clue how the MQTT Broker works? What port does it use? What I don't like is, that there is no documentation available at all....

  23. I have 10 panels on my roof alteady and want to add some more. Due to design restrictions they have to be allblack and due the length is restricted to not more than 1700mm. I need 16 panels but can't find any in SA. Anybody a clue how to get them? Thank you.

If you want to keep costs low, you can go for Axpert 5kW inverters, they do the job and I saw one for less than 9k.There are different models on the market and not all can work together if you are planning to use more than one in parallel which is the way to overcome load limitations. Buy two small batteries and connect them each on a own inverter, one on L1, one on L2 for example and you can use twice the power at the same time. 5 kW is ok but if you use a washing machine, a dryer and a water kettle at the same time your inverter is at its limits. If you choose a battery too big, you will not be able to fully charge it, especially in winter. If you take one too small you will run out of power too soon and need to buy more from Eskom. The size depends on your consumption, how big your solar system is and what you want to achieve. The optimum relation between cost and size is different from maximum autonomy and size.
