Just in case anyone is still wondering on this question - no the unit will not run on PV alone. I recently had an issue with my battery disconnect fuse (it was blown) so no battery available and when loadshedding hit I had no power, even though there was plenty of PV available.

You need the LXP to split the essential and non essential loads. The SNA can't send power to loads that aren't connected to it

Id guess having two string if there is a failure in one string you still have the second string to help out if its one string then you loose it all. I dont think either way is an issue. 

I dont think its about the voltage i think its the capacity per MPPT . Andy will assist with Firmware but the new units should come with the latest pre loaded

Don't be tempted to update from the app. I did and bricked my inverter one saterday evening ( it kept rebooting and switching the entire house off until i manually switched it off and flipped change over back to eskom). Had to get hold of Andy @ASPERGO at 11 in the evening panicking to sort out the mess, updates are done by them as new firmware is rolled out. I too suffer from itchy finger syndrome your not alone 🙃

You basically answered your own question, off-grid vs hybrid. The list of approved inverters are only for when you connect to the grid, if you are not connecting to the grid then COCT does not have a say as it does not affect them.
The list only applies to NRS 097-2-1 which is for grid interconnection.

ok so as far as I understand the SNA is not on the list. the list is only for hybrid inverters eg: if you plan to feedback to the grid; if you do not plan to feed back to the grid then you just register your SNA as offgrid.
