Dyness 4.8: "Sudden Death" - SOC instantly from 40% to 0% with no load
Hey @Patrick OReilly did you manage to resolve this issue, have you had any further problems? I seem to have had this issue a couple of times now. Happens during loadshedding where it has suddenly dropped to zero soc, from around 30%. I have a Luxpower inverter but same battery.

Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
Check your settings if you have seemless esp activated. Even without that activated should never be that long. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1090365294964869/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT join this FB page, tons of useful info there and a very help Lux community

CBI Astute Smart Controller
I have both and don't think one is better than the other. I purely went for the asc for my pool pump as was easy to fit into the pool dB and have 2 asi units on my 2 geysers. Again was easier to just switch out the manual isolator switch that was there than wire into the main dB. They both show up and work exactly the same in the app. All the same settings etc

Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
I don't think it is a major issue but I would rather sort out the problem properly. (and not charge as lead acid) I was having issues and turned out the dip settings in the battery weren't set correctly and that was causing a comms failure. Most batteries warranty will be shortened if not setup properly as a lithium battery

Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
Just in case anyone is still wondering on this question - no the unit will not run on PV alone. I recently had an issue with my battery disconnect fuse (it was blown) so no battery available and when loadshedding hit I had no power, even though there was plenty of PV available.

Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
As I understand it, the SNA can export to the grid but cannot feed items connected to the grid side as it doesn't have a CT clamp to monitor power demand. For example feeding excess power to stove or geyser which are typically not connected to the inverter. At least that's my understanding. On the blending, the SNA can only blend 2 sources as the LXP can blend all 3. The LXP is also IP rated, fanless (so is dead silent), has 5 year warranty vs 2 year warranty, can take higher PV input, not sure what else - oh yes and is approved on the cape town list where the SNA isn't (unless this has changed)

Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
Should just be that cable. If the inverter is set to lithium battery the inverter would show an error if comms cable wasn't right. I also just have 1 4.8kw Dyness battery and can push through the night, but 5 hours doesn't sound unreasonable depending on load
-
Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
Have you got the comms cable connected? Once connected you can set the battery to lithium and Dyness battery in the inverter settings. You can run it as lead acid provided you set the right float voltages etc but not recommended as may affect your warranty

Can one plug in a geyser and still have a COC
Doesn't the isolator (or I suppose in this case the plug point) need to be in reach of the geyser?

Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
Lots of factors could affect it, I have 8x545w panels and easily hit 4k consistently. Is your max you hitting with heavy load, i.e. It is importing from Eskom? If for example you are just charging the battery that could be right if you have a 0.5c battery

Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
I think @MKRandburg is wanting to run the inverter without a battery attached. In that case it can't pull from anywhere else if pv isn't enough. So I would suspect if Eskom is down then the system wouldn't run on just the panels as there is no backup (and the pv alone is too inconsistent) but I would be keen to know out of interest.

Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
I am not too sure tbh. I suspect it might not work but can't say for sure

5 kw Hybrid lux power if 5 kw sunsynk not availble
I have the LXP Luxpower. Definitely would recommend it. Has worked brilliantly the last few months I have had it. Is dead silent, blends power brilliantly, and the remote monitoring and config is great.

My Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverter install
You need the LXP to split the essential and non essential loads. The SNA can't send power to loads that aren't connected to it

Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
Yes very very happy with it, works flawlessly, the app monitoring is great. It blends power from panels, battery and Eskom all together depending on demand. Yes you can run it without a battery. And it is dead silent as well which is great Ps this is for the LXP model, which is definitely recommended over the SNA as you can split your essential and non essential loads

Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
Question, how would I go about requesting a firmware update? Not sure of the process and this was the first Luxpower my installer has done so they are not too sure either. Thanks
-
Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
The LXP is dead silent, even when under heavy load. I think the SNA off grid inverter does make noise as it has a fan, not sure how loud it is however

Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
Thanks for the feedback haha. Will rather get them to do the firmware update if there is one. I certainly don't want to cause any issues.

Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
Yip, the max Watts per mppt is 4000 so could potentially lose a bit in best case scenarios. It however wouldn't be a problem as would just clip the excess. Will double check the firmware version and contact them if needed. Although I see you can download the firmware on the app? Don't know if that's fine to do

Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
Thanks, quite happy having it on 2 strings, just would have been nice to have the 1 string free to add further panels at a later stage. But can change it at the time if needed I suppose

Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
Install almost complete, had a couple delays but wanted to check something. I have 8 x 545w Canadian Solar panels on the LXP 5k and was advised by Aspergo that they need to be connected in 2 strings of 4. So we have gone ahead with that but just seems odd as 8 panels in series wouldn't go over the max 500v. My installer still thinks it should have just been 8 panels in series on 1 string. Also does the firmware get updated automatically when it gets connected, or do we have to contact someone to do the remote update?

Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
Good to know, I am busy with my install and decided to go with this unit. I was a bit disappointed that the max discharge on battery is limited to 4000w but hoping in day to day that it wouldn't really be an issue
-
Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
Thanks @Aspergo Makes sense. Assume at night if grid is available you can still pull full 5000w as it can pull from battery and grid
-
Luxpower 5kw hybrid inverters question
@Aspergo One more question on the Luxpower LXP - could you advise what the max charge and discharge is of the battery? Have seen conflicting info on sites, some say 3600, some 4000 and some 5000. Has it been increased to 5000w? Thanks

Cape Town "Approved" list of Inverters Question
Thanks, have decided to go proper hybrid that is NRS approved as want to be able to top up from grid as needed.
