  1. Hi @Herman.hjk, it did get resolved in the end, but it took me hiring another installer to fix it. It was a hard pill to swallow after Renegare Energy (Juan vd Merwe) ghosted me after receving his money, but I didn't have a choice. Hope you come right with your situation . In my case it was a faulty screen module (which connects to the logger as well I think) that was the cause and needed to be replaced. Hope that helps a bit.

  5. Thanks @Rodbuilder, that is certainly worth a try. Thanks for the advice!

  8. Hi @d3nominat0r, I did. A company called Somewatt Solar (owner is named Dean) did a some of extra work for for me, adding a battery and fixing the mess Renegade Energy (original installer) made with the wiring and setup. After that work they did a CoC and SSEG registration. I'm not sure they do that in general for installs they didn't start themselves, but you can ask.
  9. Hi @AndrewJdc, I've tried the consumer protector, but they have said that without a physical address, they won't be able to do much without the installer's cooperation (which seems ridiculous to me given the function the CP is meant to perform). The company is called Renegade Energy, owner is Juan vd Merwe. Very charming, great salesman, but unfortunately it ends there. Big mistake on my part choosing them, but you live and you learn.
  10. Good day all, I had a Deye 8kw inverter, 3x 4.8kw Dyness batteries and 10x Canadian Solar 545w panels installed 3 months ago. Yesterday the logger stopped working and when I went to check the inverter the screen was blank and no lights switched on, however the inverter is functioning properly, doing its job otherwise. I tried resetting the system by switching the inverter off, switching DC off, pulling the fuse between the batteries and inverter and switching the house over to grid only for an hour for an hour then switching it back on. The inverter screen came on and lights came on and logger lights came on, but only for a few seconds, then went dark again. The inverter still works perfectly otherwise. My installer is MIA and uncontactable after being paid, there is no way to track them down, I've tried. The inverter is definitely still under warranty and I do know who the supplier/importer is (who the installer purchased the inverter from). What would you guys suggest I do? Does Deye pay for the removal, repair and reinstall process if still under warranty? Are there solar professionals who help out individuals in my situation? I'm just a bit lost, so would appreciate any guidance. I'm in Cape Town. Thanks

  12. Thanks @PsyWulf, so the amount Solarman registers as "grid power"/"energy purchased" doesn't include that inefficiency loss? I thought that it was measuring how much electricity was being pulled from the grid (i.e. inclusive of everything), but I'm not very knowledgeable on the technicalities so might have misunderstood that.
  13. Hi all, I'm new to solar and installed a solar system with a Deye 8kw inverter, 10x 545w Canadian solar panels and 3x 4.8kw Dyness batteries. The reading on the solarman app says that energy purchased for a period of 34 days was 178 units while the municipal bill was for 206 units. The CT coil was placed properly on the mains so it should be registering all electricity usage. Is this discrepancy between the readings normal or is there an issue I need to look at with my system or the municipal meter? Thanks
  14. Thanks @Steve87, I emailed him and received a response already 👍

  16. Thank you @Steve87. Yeah, it's been quite awful, but I'm just trying to make the best of things and get the system sorted and supported at this point (can't waste more space in my mind on that unfair event). So I don't need to be in contact with the Solarman people? Deye should be able to sort it out by themselves?

  18. Good day all, I have run into an unscrupulous installer who ran away after being paid. They installed the hardware and software, but are now nowhere to be seen for the commissioning, SSEG registration, etc... They have my plant on their Solarman Business app while I have Solarman Smart. I've recently found a great installer to help expand my system and take over the project, including the configuration on Solarman. My question is: How can I de-authorise access to my system for the previous installer and then get my new installer authorised? Any advice is welcome, thanks in advance!
  19. @BrettB / @Scubadude thank you! That makes sense. I'll adjust the settings this evening
  20.    Glenn reacted to a post in a topic: 8kw Deye inverter tripping during loadshedding
  21. Thanks @BrettB! I was wondering if the setting on the Deye inverter was per battery or for the whole bank. Are you saying it's for the whole bank? (e.g. my 70A setting is actually making it 35A per battery at the moment). Also, the way the batteries work, does 2 batteries in this kind of setup mean I can pull twice the amps? i.e. their current and power output is additive (75A + 75A) As you can tell I'm new to all of this.
  22. Please help me understand if my thinking is right on this or if I'm off base. My batteries have been set to a max current of 70A and have a certain voltage based on SOC, at most it's around 53.5v. So does that mean the max power I can draw from the batteries at any one time is (at 100% SoC) 53.5vx70A = 3,745kw and if I go over that during load shedding it will trip?
  23. Hi guys, I've now had my house trip on 2 seperate occasions during loadshedding and I think it is battery performance related and I'm not understanding 1. if my assumption is correct (that it's battery related) and 2. if it's normal. Both times it appears to be usage in the home going over a certain level, I believe its somewhere between 3.1 and 3.3kw (though I can't 100% pinpont it). My system is an 8kw Deye Inverter with 2x 4.8kw Dyness batteries (A48100) so I thought that it would be able to handle a load of up to 8.8kw on the inverter before tripping. This feels like a battery output issue to me based on the graph below. I'm a novice so any advice/perspective would be welcome. My question Have I misunderstood the capability of the system to handle load during loadshedding (i.e. it's normal), is something wrong with my system, or is it a settings related issue? Additional info The pic shows some stats from solarman (Inverter output, Grip power, Battery power and Total consumption/power). To my untrained eye, this is what I'm noting. It looks like the battery power provided tops out at arounf 3.3kw with the inverter output at about 3.15kw (like the portion with the green line above it, which was not during loadshedding and so was supplemented by grid power when it went over 3.3kw consumption) >>> This is where my main question comes in, is that normal given my batteries? Is it a settings issue? It tripped below where I marked the green X (it likely went above the 3.15kw, but didn't show it on the graph, it tripped after a kettle went on) Let me know if you need any more detail than I've provided above.
