  1. Good day All I am currently looking for solar installation teams to assist with installing residential and business solar systems in and around Johannesburg and Gauteng. System sizes vary from 2kW to 150kW solar. Kind Regards Garth
  2. I'll be testing the East West split on a single MPPT in the next week or so and will give feedback. I won't be using the 15° idea though as it doesn't really make sense to me other than from an optimisation perspective and I can't actually use 15° on the test roof.
  3. That's a huge property. ☺ Do you know of any of the details of the IPP?
  4. Hehe Chris, if you have the available land I may just take you up in that. I'm in Joburg but can relocate equipment. ☺
  5. Evening everyone I am trying to find a cheap bulk electricity supply in Gauteng or other provinces in South Africa. I am looking for 50kW or 100kW depending on price. Does anyone know of any industrial areas or independent power producers that could supply this? I have been looking for several weeks and no luck so far. Garth
  6. Morning All Does anyone know of a link to the latest firmware for the Axpert 5kVA / PIP 4048 ? I have spent a significant amount of time searching the Internet without success. I have 72.70 but would like to test a newer version. Garth
  7. Yes, relatively old, but solid. The newer kernels support upgrading while still running, so no reboot needed to upgrade kernels.
  8. I have a Linux server that hasn't been rebooted in more than 1100 days / 3 years. Windows cannot get anywhere near to that.
  9. I use multiple USB ports for Axpert Inverters in parallel off a single Raspberry PI. If you run your program or script as root you won't need to change the udev rules. The nice thing about Linux is that every device... serial ports, hard drives, printers, Axpert Inverters is just a file in the /dev file system. The Axperts show up as /dev/hidrawX where X is an integer. Garth
  10. As far as I understand, there are no regulations for the DC side (panels and batteries) in South Africa yet, but your AC side will need to signed off by a registered electrician to ensure it complies with regulations.
  11. Yes, that's the one @plonkster So you think that AGM batteries are just as good when compared to the Lead Crystal batteries? The Lead Crystal seem to have much higher discharge cycles.
  12. Here is video entitled "Lead Crystal vs Lead Acid" where a local South African tests the performance of the two battery types. Both batteries are hammered over a period of several months by completely discharging and charging daily. The lead acid battery soon dies. Interesting video.
  13. Afternoon All I am looking for someone to install 10-12 panels and run the DC cables in Johannesburg area. I have all the panels and the mounting solution. Can anyone recommend anyone? Please feel free to message me directly as well. Garth
  14. Thanks Don I see there is mention of 72.90 in this forum discussion: https://www.energialternativa.info/public/newforum/Discussione.php?55595931&66 I am busy trying to get a copy of the latest one from the manufacturers / importers / distributors (not winning so far). Garth
  15. I have just found the solution and posting it here for the benefit of anyone else struggling with this error. The regsvr32.exe command has to be run as Administrator when updating the SCC otherwise it does not have the permission on to install. Garth
  16. Before I forget... what is the latest firmware version? Is it 72.70 or is there a new one? Garth
  17. Hi All I have spent hours trying to update the CPU and SCC on my Axpert 5kVA. I was easily able to update the CPU to 72.60 without a problem but as soon as I try run the IapProgram.exe to update the SCC I get an error "Debug Assertion Failed!" I have an Axpert MKS 5kVA and have followed the procedure document accurately and made sure the batteries and PV are connected as per the document that comes with the firmware. I have ensured that my serial port is set to COM1 and tried on two separate PC's, one with a physical serial port and one with a USB to serial adapter. Both PC's are running Windows 10. I have also tried using two different copies of the update tool. Has anyone managed to update the SCC using Windows 10 or have other users only done it using an older version of Windows? Garth
